...holy fucking christ.

Okay, so I completely missed the twist in this week's Shiboyugi, but a friend pointed it out and it's one of the most sickening things I think I've ever seen.

So at the start of the episode, we see the entrance to the Hot Spring of Death like this. One door leading into complex. One door because it's a single-gender bathhouse, only women in this death game like all the others. Makes perfect sense.

Except once again, the show has lied to us.

Because in the final moments of the episode, the camera pulls back to show us what had completely slipped Yuki's mind because of how mundane it seemed:

There's a men's door too.

This is a mixed-gender public bathhouse.

And one side just smashed down the wall blocking them from the other.

It's fitting that Shiboyugi's first episode in the "real world" is the one that feels the most like an abstract waking nightmare. Yuki's become so wrapped up in the games that they're the only thing she recognizes as real anymore; the normal world is little more than a void she stumbles through between contests. Nothing exists until she's directly upon it and it all vanishes just as quickly into nonexistence the moment she leaves it behind.

Can I say something. IroKaguYachi is what KPDH fans (myself included) wanted Polytrix to be. And I think it’s interesting how Cosmic Princess Kaguya hasn’t blown up nearly as much as KPDH despite having actual canon yuri in their magic girl music trio as opposed to KPDH’s fanon yuri with queer undertones. KPDH deserved to blow up and was a shining example of beautiful animation, voice acting and storytelling, but I wish all that love was given to canon WLW stories too.
