“Of coure she did,” she laughed. “Our perfectionist.” Pepper gave him one of her warmest smiles, one she usually saved just for him. “It’s all in the attitude…and refusing to accept limitations.” She brushed her lips over his cheek. “It’s been a fun evening. I’ve found myself surrounded by versions of you…including one by Steve Rogers of all people.”
“Well I wouldn’t expect any less from our little Alli.”
“Yeah, I heard about the Steve Rogers version but I have yet to see it.” He wrapped his arms around Pepper’s waist and glanced around as if he hoped to see him now. When he didn’t, he looked at Pepper’s face and returned the kiss on her cheek. “But I’m the superior one, right?”

“I ask myself that every day” she admitted it was true she was lucky enough to have found Steve but she never did really understand how lucky she was. “I can’t promise anything, this is like the first Halloween I’ve celebrated but I’ll try just because you said you won’t tell dad. Your always cool you know, sometimes your easier than my dad, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said that”
Tony’s smile turned a little more tame and he patted her shoulder. “Hey, kid. Don’t even sweat it. It’s normal for a kid to find other parents cool.” He glanced around as if he was about to tell a secret. “And since I’m not gonna tell your dad that you’re drinking, you’re not going to tell your dad what I’m about to say. But, really? Your dad is way cooler than I am.” He put a finger on his lips. “But don’t tell him because I swear he’ll never live it down. We’ve got dirt on each other so this is our solemn oath.”

“Yeah! She checked with me before she left so I could make sure her goatee was on point.” Tony grinned. He looked over at Pepper and whistled. “Daaamn. Four children later and still rocking it~” He wrapped an arm around her waist. “How’s it going, stranger?”

Bruce watched as his longtime friend became humbled by the subject of his children. Children did that to people, Winnie certainly did that. “Aren’t all children supposed to be the better versions of ourselves? Winnie had to drag me away from work and even convinced me to dress up for Halloween.” Spoken like the true introvert that he has.
“You, too, huh? Another fireball. She dragged me out of my lab a couple days ago with a cheesesteak. That girl. If you don’t watch her, little Pooh Bear is gonna be a Mama Bear soon enough.” He squeezed Bruce’s shoulders a bit and knocked a fist lightly into his upper arm. “Still, I’m glad she did. I feel like I hardly see you anymore. We gotta go out to lunch or dinner sometime. Or maybe you can come by my lab. We can chat about your recent work.”
