people were confusing, stiles the most confusing of all. malia could still remember how happy she had been with him. he was her friend. no, he was her best friend. the one person who did not judge her or look at her differently. he helped her, and, of course, she had fallen in love with him. but then everything was broken and malia could never understand what she had done wrong. it only made more sense when she learned of him and lydia and… well, she was certainly not a genius but she began to understand. only it seemed she had understood it all wrong? why were people so confusing? ❝ what about lydia? ❞ her question did not come laced with jealousy or with a demanding tone ( though she did feel a pull at her heartstrings to think of the two of them. ) most of all, malia was curious, still trying to understand. ❝ i thought scott said you two were together? ❞
what about lydia ? a great question. how does someone manage to feel nothing when they’re finally with the girl that he dreamed of being with since they were in the 3rd grade ? how does he explain that it didn’t feel right. and that’s because it didn’t feel anywhere near the way he felt when he was with malia. how does he, outloud -- with words, say that to her ? to the girl he walked away from. that feels like something he should keep to himself. “ yeah, that -- that one did not work out. a surprise really if you take a look at my record for not fucking up good things. oh right --- ” so of course he doesn’t keep it to himself. he sounds defeated, exhausted and a little bit drunk. fingers pick at the label on the bottle. honest words spill easily, way too easily. “ but how could it work when it didn’t feel like it did -- ” a hiccup. “ when it didn’t feel like it did when i was with you. ”
