we still don’t have water (i live in an apartment building and we have a water tank, but many people don’t have ANY water at home)
classes at schools in lima (the capital city) have been suspended again - they resume on wednesday
my uni has postponed classes: i was supposed to start tomorrow but they will start on the 27th
right now, a jail is on fire
many bridges have fallen and cities at the north of the country are now completely inaccesible
probably the rains and mudslides won’t stop for at least a month
also: i’m temporarily closing my studyblr. from now on i’m only going to share info about the situation here in peru. i know i don’t have a lot of followers and many of you have been ignoring this (which makes me feel really sad and dissapointed at the studyblr community) but it doesn’t feel right to go on like nothing is happening. if you want to contact me and ask me how can you help, i’ll be happy to tell you all i know.
I’m so sorry this is happening! How can I help? Where can I get more information?Â
hi! thank you for your interest! the peruvian red cross has enabled this link for worldwide online donations. you can also check for info on how to help in your country’s peruvian embassy - right now, the most needed things are non-perishable food, water, medicine, clothing, shoes and blankets, but i know it’s hard to send donations from another country. honestly, just spreading the word it’s helpful right now if you can’t do anything else.
for more info, you can check some of the posts i’ve reblogged recently or, if you understand a bit of spanish (if you don’t, i’ll be happy to help you translate) you can check this newspaper’s web page, sadly i haven’t seen much coverage on international media. you can also check the hashtag #prayforperu on twitter. thank you so much for being interested in what’s happening here!
+ some tweets i found in english:
a video on the situation
and another one
a few pictures (this one has a puppy and it makes me cry)
these are the lines to get water in lima (we haven’t had water for 5 days)
more info

okay we all had a good laugh at the video of richard spencer getting hit in the face, but we need to keep something equally as important in mind if we’re going to spread that around:
he got attacked a second time as soon as the cameras stopped rolling lmao

Irish Patriots are writing one of the most heroic chapters in human history… they have earned the respect and admiration of the world, and likewise they deserve its support. Ten of them have already died in the most moving gesture of sacrifice, selflessness and courage one could ever imagine… let tyrants tremble before men who are capable of dying for their ideals, after 60 days on hunger strike!

god whenever i see those jokes that are like.. “haha lads we put glasses on the floor at the MET and everyone thought it was art jokes on them” jokes on you bitch! you put something out there in a context of display + consumption of art and people took it seriously because that is what the social etiquette of galleries impedes the viewer to do and you drew a response and reaction out of them and then thousands of other people by laughing at them. you made art bitch. you simulated the experience then proved your own joke with you as the punchline bitch. not the viewers.Â
We tend to think animals are lower than us, but all the scientists in the world couldn’t design and operate a bumblebee’s wing. We can’t jump or run very fast, and we can’t carry vast weights like an ant can. We can’t see in the dark and we can’t fly except crammed in a noisy tube like sardines, which doesn’t count. Humans compared to animals are almost totally deaf, and we can’t smell a fart in an elevator by their standards. We are finite and separate, and neurotic, while the consciousness of an animal is at peace and eternal. We strive and go crazy to become more important. Animals rest and sleep and enjoy the company of each other. We think we have evolved upwards from animals but we have lost almost all of their qualities and abilities. The idea that animals don’t have consciousness or that they don’t have a soul is rather crass. It shows a lack of consciousness. They talk, they have families, they feel things, they act individually or together to solve problems, they often care of their young as a tribal unit. They play, they travel, and medicate themselves when they get sick. They cry when others in the herd die, they know about us humans. Of course they have a soul, a very pristine one. We humans are only now attempting with the recent rise in consciousness to achieve the soul that animals have naturally.
