The Shaky Legacy Challenge – Sims 4
A legacy challenge with a chaotic twist: each generation faces a unique, inconvenient rule.
Base Rules (Applies to All Generations):
• Start with 0 Simoleons.
• Play on Normal Lifespan.
• No cheats unless fixing a bug.
• Must complete each generation’s main challenge before moving on to the next.
• Traits, aspirations, and careers are up to you, unless stated in the generational rule.
• You must live alone your entire life—no dating, marriage, or roommates.
• Can only earn money from hobbies (writing, painting, knitting, gardening, etc.).
• May adopt or have a science baby once all goals for the generation are complete.
• Goal: Build a small, functional home and max out one skill tied to a cozy or creative pursuit.
Gen 2 – “The In-Law Clause”
• After marriage, you must move in with your spouse’s family and remain in their household until your Sim becomes an elder.
• You cannot build or move into your own home until you’re an elder.
• Must have at least two children during this time.
• Goal: Reach level 10 of any career while surviving the awkward in-law life.
• Must raise twins as a single parent.
• Your Sim must separate from their partner before the twins age into toddlers (divorce, break-up, or death).
• Cannot date again until the twins are teens.
• Goal: Successfully raise both twins to teens with at least one positive trait each, and max a parenting-related skill.
• Your Sim is obsessed with cleanliness and order.
• Must live in a tiny home (under 100 tiles).
• Cannot leave dirty dishes, messes, or laundry unattended. If your Sim gets the “Uncomfortable” moodlet from filth, you must do a full room renovation.
• Goal: Become a master at handiness or wellness and complete the “Neat” or “Perfectionist” aspiration.
Gen 5 – “The Home Wrecker”
• Your Sim cannot live in the same house for more than 7 Sim days.
• Every 7 days, you must pack up and move to a new lot (use Free Real Estate ON if needed, but sell all furniture).
• Must have at least 3 different romantic relationships that all end badly.
• Goal: Complete the Serial Romantic aspiration or max out Charisma.
Gen 6 – “The Critter Keeper”
• Your Sim may only live with animals—no roommates or partners.
• Must adopt at least two pets.
• Cannot leave the lot for more than 6 hours per day (homebody).
• Must max out the Veterinarian skill OR complete the Friend of the Animals aspiration.
• Goal: Earn your income from pet-related work (vet clinic, painting pet portraits, etc.).
Gen 7 – “The Burnt-Out Genius”
• Your Sim must master two difficult careers (e.g., Scientist, Doctor, or Engineer).
• Once they reach level 8 in the first career, they must quit and start a new one from scratch.
• Cannot go on vacation or have fun days until elderhood.
• Goal: Reach level 10 in the second career and max Logic or Programming.
Gen 8 – “The Bad Luck Magnet”
• Use a randomizer once per week to roll for an unfortunate event (e.g., fire, lose job, break up, move).
• Your Sim must have the “Unlucky” lifestyle (if using mods) or constantly deal with chaos.
• Cannot use emotional support items (like reward potions).
• Goal: Complete a hard aspiration like Renaissance Sim or Fabulously Wealthy despite the misfortune.
Gen 9 – “The Hopeless Romantic”
• Your Sim must get married three times in their lifetime, but all must end in heartbreak.
• One spouse dies, one leaves, one cheats.
• Each marriage must result in at least one child.
• Goal: Raise at least five children across the marriages and maintain a strong relationship with all of them.
• Your Sim must change their aspiration and career every time they age up (teen → YA → adult → elder).
• Must dress in completely different outfits for each life stage.
• Relationships and goals must also shift with each age stage (e.g., single → married → divorced → best friends).
• Goal: Complete one full aspiration of your choice (any of the four they had in life four life stages). It doesn’t have to be the last one, just make sure one is finished before they die.
