What made things so awful for Villain was that every day was different.
If Supervillain came in a couple of times a day, fucked them, and left, things would be different. Tolerable. A routine Villain could adhere to.
But Supervillain’s ever changing demands were starting to get to Villain’s sanity.
While Villain was good at being able to put on a show, it was getting harder day by day. There were times that they slipped up; once, they let a plea slip when they were supposed to act willing. Another time, they almost broke down in tears when they were supposed to be defiant and stoic, and they had to collect themselves before Supervillain noticed. If he hadn’t already.
It was only a month after Hero’s release that Villain finally snapped.
Supervillain had Villain in one of their least favorite roles: domestic. They were expected to act with zero fear, zero hatred, zero defiance. They had to behave as if when Supervillain returned from his duties, they were greeting their spouse after their day of work. It was nearly impossible, but for their own sake, Villain had figured it out.
And they did, in the beginning. Supervillain entered his office where Villain was kept, gave a quick “spouse,” and unlocked the cage. Like clockwork, Villain stood up and kissed Supervillain on the lips to greet them. They didn’t stretch their limbs like they wanted to. They didn’t dash for the door. Their hands didn’t constrict around that awful man’s neck. Instead, they settled on his hips and pulled him closer. “Welcome home, babe.”
They were in Supervillain’s quarters now, watching the news on his bed. Villain was curled up next to Supervillain, letting him play idly with their hair. They’d rather be chained up and beaten. At least they were allowed to wear clothes this time around. Even if they knew they’d be losing them soon enough.
Supervillain had been blissfully silent for the most part, but he suddenly decided to turn down the volume a bit on the television.
“Y’know, I think about them sometimes,” Supervillain murmured. “Hero.”
Villain’s throat tightened. They took the risk of saying nothing.
“I wonder how they’re managing to survive out there. If at all,” Supervillain continued. “They could be dead. It’s possible no one found them and helped them. Very possible, in fact. Broken bones take a while to heal.”
Villain simply nodded, swallowing the dryness in their throat.
“I think about the time we spent together, too. Before you bailed them out.” Supervillain sighed wistfully. “God, they were fun. They had this…bite. Figuratively and literally.” He chuckled. “They actually almost managed to escape once, early on. Had to paralyze them for a bit after that.”
Get to the point. Please god get to the point and stop talking about them.
“And yeah, that was fun and all. But you wanna know my favorite moment with them?” Supervillain grinned, turning his head to look at Villain. He knew exactly what he was fucking doing.
Supervillain laughed again. Nails on a chalkboard. “The switch.”
Villain furrowed their eyebrows. “W-What’s…”
“It’s the moment they realized what I really wanted them for.” Supervillain sat up and maneuvered himself to straddle Villain’s hips.
“All I had to do was hold them down, just like this…” He pushed Villain down by their shoulders, now towering over them and casting a dark shadow over their whole body.
Villain winced at the sudden pressure on their crotch.
“And it was night and day,” Supervillain whispered, almost giddy. “All the hate turned to fear. The fire in their eyes turned to tears. Because of me. Because of what I was about to do to them. What I was about to take from them.”
Supervillain’s hand slipped under Villain’s waistband. He leaned down to whisper into their ear.
“They were so pathetic and weak. And god, I loved it.”
Villain stared fearfully into Supervillain’s eyes, knowing full well it wasn’t the expression he wanted from them. They both knew.
“Don’t you agree, Villain?” Supervillain sneered. “Say it. Tell me how pathetic Hero is.”
Villain had to close their eyes. It was too much. “I…I agre—AGH, FUCK!”
Supervillain released his grip. He wasn’t smiling anymore. “Look at me. Look at me and say it, mutt.”
Villain whimpered and forced their eyes open. “I-I agree! I agree with you, I always do, I—”
“Nope. You’re not listening,” Supervillain growled. “I’ll make it easy for you, idiot. Repeat after me: ‘Hero is a pathetic little bitch.’ You got that? Need me to repeat it?”
Villain gritted their teeth, breathing heavily through them. Calm down, remember what you’re here for. Don’t let him get to you.
“Come on, you can do it. ‘Hero is a pathetic little bitch who’s only good for getting fucked.’ Go ahead, Villain, you know it’s true! My spouse would never disagree with me, would they?!”
Don’t listen to him, just say it. They’re just words.
Supervillain’s grip returned, tightening with each word.
“YOU FUCKING BITCH!” Villain’s hands went for Supervillain’s throat, and with surprising strength, they were able to knock them onto their back. They squeezed as hard as they could with one hand and reeled back the other in a fist.
Before it could make impact, before Villain could even blink, they felt themselves get flung across the room into the wall. They fell to the floor with a thud. They tried to get up, but they realized with horror that they couldn’t move their body.
“I knew it,” Supervillain said, standing up from his bed and circling around it to stand in front of Villain. “I knew you weren’t cut out for this. I’ve noticed you slipping for quite a while now. I was wondering just how much I’d need to do to break you.” He knelt down before them. “Turns out, all I needed to do was say a couple of silly words.”
He reached forward and moved strands of Villain’s hair out of their face to see their frozen, terrified expression. He sat in thought for a long stretch before sighing.
“Alright, here’s the plan.” Supervillain lifted Villain by the hair and threw their limp body back on the edge of his bed. “I’m gonna fuck you one more time, ‘cause I’m in the mood. Then I’ll kill you, since you can’t live up to your promise. After that, I’ll start tracking your team down. Every last one of them. And if Hero’s still out there, I’ll be sure to pick them up too.”
Supervillain turned Villain onto their back, spreading their dangling legs and standing in between them. “That is…unless you can be what I need from you. Right now, with no more mistakes.” He raised an eyebrow. “You ready?”
Supervillain lifted his powers from Villain’s body, and they finally had control again. And even though they could move freely now, do whatever they want…they did what they had to instead.
“I’m sorry baby, you were right.” Villain sat up and reached up to caress Supervillain’s cheek. “Hero really is a pathetic little bitch. I knew it the whole time I had them. I could’ve done anything to them, and they wouldn’t have been able to do anything to protect themselves.”
Supervillain smirked. “Yeah? What gave it away?”
“I mean, I couldn’t even look at them without shrinking back in fear. I could tell that all they ever had on their mind was you.” Villain leaned in and kissed Supervillain softly on the lips. They giggled. “That worthless slut’s probably rotting in an alley somewhere, and I’ll bet they still think about you.”
Supervillain laughed. “Jeez, you really wanna protect those fuckers, don’t you?” He shook his head amusedly and flipped Villain back onto their stomach. “Nice save, mutt.”
Villain was glad they were on their stomach this time. They could make all the noises they had to, but they didn’t know if they could hold back their tears. Thankfully, the bedsheets did a great job of soaking them up.
