@nthornborrow
Messing around with @procreate. Hereās a barbarian who is poorly dressed for the weather. One simply does not have the sort of adventures he has in a parka.
This is the cover illustration for "Stories of the Saints", a book I'm working on that comes out sometime next year. It's being written by Carey Wallace, and is illustrated by yours truly. I can't wait to share more from it, but in the meantime, here's St Francis.
Here are my weekās warm up paintings. For the past month Iāve been getting one of these quick sketches done before I get down to my dayās business.Ā
A mish-mash of Port Seldom character drawings and quick paintings this week. Port Seldom is this nebulous mental playground that Iāve been playing around in lately. Itās a place inspired by campfires, ghost stories, urban legends and summers at the family cabin.Ā
Some warm up paintings. 10 min to half hour each.
My friends with the Toy Piano Composers are releasing their debut album, and were kind enough to give me the opportunity to do some art for them.Ā
Hey, also, they're having a release party in Toronto, so join them on June 7th at 8PM, Ernest Balmer Studio, 9 Trinity Street #316 (Distillery District). $15 at the door and I'm told that admission includes the album to take home with you. Love collaborating with these guys.
SPOILERS - More boards done for Mass Effect: Andromeda! Starring Sara Ryder and Liam Kosta.
Storyboards produced for Mass Effect Andromeda. This scene is from Drackās loyalty mission. Obligatory spoiler warning, these are storyboards after all. The full sequence is on my artstation
Mass Effect Andromeda is on shelves, and so Iām going to post some of the storyboards I produced on this project. This is from the opening mission, when an early victory quickly goes sideways for Ryder. (2/2)Ā

The Lighthouse of Port Seldom. Progress vid is on my instagram, nthornborrow.
Iāve started to park things over on artstation as well, if that place is your jam.Ā Iām nthornborrow over there too.
Welcome to Port Seldom Quay. This is another piece of development art for a personal project Iām wrestling with. Process sketches for this one are up on my instagram.
Port Seldom is a lake region paradise where odd things happen from time to time. Just adding ideas to the story idea bank at this point. This oneās all photoshop from start to finish. Check out the process video on my instagram.
I'm curious, what was your favourite piece of artwork that you created for the Dragon Age series & any of the DLCs? Also who is your favourite character? Ps. Your art is the best I've ever seen. Good Luck!
Let me think. I had a lot of fun painting Solasā mural in Skyhold. Story boarding might take the cake though, because itās a highly collaborative and fast paced process, working with other concept artists, writers, animators and sometimes even level artists and vfx artists to find the scene that works best. Sometimes a sequence gets re boarded every day for several weeks before we get it right. Itās a good feeling when you pitch a scene and you finally get the reaction you were looking for. Favourite character? Blackwall hands down.
Thank you for the kind words!
