So here’s something I was thinking about:
Since Kris walks all-zombie-like whenever they tear the SOUL out, maybe…. despite the Red SOUL seemingly being an invasive force posessing Kris, they’re also not able to properly function\survive without a SOUL?
Kris doesn’t seem to be able to remember things across SAVEs themself. Which might also indicate a lower degree of Determination and further dissociates them from the Red SOUL.
Is it possible that rather than Kris always having a Red SOUL that has been taken over by an outside force, or Kris never having a SOUL until the Player started possessing them…. Maybe Kris had a DIFFERENT SOUL that was taken away and replaced by the Player’s Red SOUL?
Due to their Dark World colors, Kris is heavily associated with the color Light Blue, the Color of a Patience SOUL.
And with the way Kris is suffering under the SOUL’s posession but only rips it out when they absolutely need to, the way that they seem to have some sort of long-term plan in mind…. All of these can indicate an extremely powerful sense of Patience?
And much like Chara and Frisk and Kris, the Light Blue SOUL in Undertale was a human child that was adopted by Toriel for a while. Well, all of the Humans in Undertale were it seems, and It’s hard to say for how long - but since they’re the ones who died in the RUINS, and since Patience is all about going slow-and-steady and not moving, it’s possible that they stayed with her for a long while???
Althought Kris’ love of knives usually connects them more with Chara, the Light Blue Human in Undertale ALSO has an association with knives. A toy knife is their signature weapon, and they use knives to attack Frisk in the Photoshop Flowey Battle.
The Light Blue SOUL is also somwhat associated with bandages (like Frisk), since they use them to heal Frisk in the Flowey Battle. Kris’ ‘armor’ in the Light World is a bandage.
Speaking of armor, Light Blue SOUL’s armor is the Faded Ribbon - and Ribbons seem to be a recurring armor type in Deltarune; since we’ve had one in both the Card Kingdom and Cyber World. And like… I guess a Ribbon kinda fits in with the Card Kingdom theme, but not so much Cyber World.
And it’s pretty interesting that it’s the only piece of Armor in Deltarune (so far) that kinda correspond to a piece of Armor from Undertale, right???
