Concept art for Fallout 3

I agree with u about fallout being unfortunately stuck in the Stone Age in regards to how society is doing, and so for my own personal belief of WHY it’s like that is the prewar world used so much lead in everything that a lot of people have bad lead poisoning so they often aren’t able to function well even 200 years later.
Maybe that’s why the population isn’t as high (ignoring the obvious other dangers) and why people are so aggressive and even the ones who aren’t aggressive to the point of attacking are still angry all the time (ignoring the other reasons to be angry)
U don’t have to respond to this, just wanted to put it in someone’s head yk? Hope ur having a good day, best of luck
Okay but I'm fascinated by this idea that everyone prewar and after was still getting lead poisoning 😭🙏
I can't even dispute its not NOT possible loool
And I guess thats not to even speak of the asbestos. When the rads are the second worst thing you gotta worry about.
I accept that asking for some more stable societies is not in Fallout's *theme*, but it is in my own headcanons.
Some fallout posters I’ve been working on 😛

I just went into Vault 22 for the first time and holy shit, I haven't been scared while playing a Fallout game like that. You freaks write sex pollen smut about that place? YOU AREN'T TAGGING IT EROTIC HORROR?
Do you know how strange of a feeling it is to be scared out of your mind while thinking about the boonecade sex pollen smut you read the other week?
Fallout: New Vegas doesn't include many details of the romance between Veronica and Christine, but I've become more intrigued by the question of how many of those details are even true. My big realization after a conversation with Veronica was that everything she tells the Courier about Christine turns out to be wrong, or at least suspect. Not because she's lying, but because she's been lied to. Christine's account directly contradicts a lot of what Veronica says because of Elijah's manipulations, but Christine also doesn't provide many details.
Veronica thinks Christine left the Brotherhood to get away from her homophobic parents, but she apparently joined their version of internal affairs and remained even more committed to the Brotherhood than Veronica is. That raises the question of how Veronica didn't know about this, what role the Brotherhood's culture actually played in Christine's decision, and how much Christine knew about Veronica's status, because Veronica's dialogue makes it sound like they talked in person before Christine "left". Maybe Elijah tampered with messages to Veronica. That would explain why she got over the breakup quicker: she thinks Christine dumped her via text.
But by far the most wrong thing Veronica says about Christine is "I'm sure she's moved on." Girl, you can’t imagine how Not Over you Christine is. It is vital to the themes of Dead Money that Christine hasn’t let go of Veronica. She’s so not over Veronica, she went on a mission of vengeance to kill the guy who broke them up. Yeah, he's committed other atrocities since then, but she definitely volunteered for the job when his name popped up on the hit list. Being too brain-damaged to write and getting her vocal cords scrambled couldn’t stop her from expressing how being separated from Veronica has filled her with murderous rage. Can relate.
They need to meet again. They need to have toxic codependent miscommunicating yuri in the toxic codependency death casino.

Random gripe with the fallout community -
everyone assumes that all the damage and skeletons are from the nukes of the last war. the common sentiment is "it's been 200 years and no one's fixed this yet??"
It has been 200 years! You know what happens in that time frame? tons of people living and dying and killing each other. The skeleton in the bathtub might be from 10 or 20 years ago. The damage from structures and the debris might not be from 200 years ago, it could be from a few years ago from the last people who lived in that location. People also migrate and move around so it's reasonable people didn't expect to be there long term and were more concerned about their survival first, things hard to come by like clean food and water. There's also a good chance at least some people who've been born since haven't given much of a shit around all the crap on the ground because it's always been there!
idk man
this isn't like "defending bethesda", this is pointing out flawed logic in the fan base and after hearing it for like 20 years I'm pretty over it.
ALSO LIKE. If you know or have seen any media by the survivors of the atomic bombs dropped in the real world (ie accounts from survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki), if people aren't lucky enough to be killed in the initial blast then they're likely going to die a very slow and horrible death by radiation poisoning or wounds they've sustained in the destruction or a million other things. The people who *were* killed by the blast are more likely to be the smudged shadows on the floors and walls than the skeletons hanging out. Skeletons imply the bodies were left to rot and decay, not that they were burned up in the blast.
Great points being made! I would also like to mention that the larger, older settlements are very clean compared to random locations/newer settlements.
Everyone knows about the NCR’s success in the west but Ceasar’s empire was also doing very well and had thriving, clean communities. The people were suffering, but everything is very put together.
The difference between the west and east coast is vast. Lots more clutter and horrid conditions. But remember, in fallout 3 even the most basic thing needed for survival - water - was VERY rare before the main quest is finished. But the places that did have it like Megaton and Rivet City were flourishing in comparison to other settlements. CJ Young even tells the LW that her sole job is cleaning. There are people doing these things!
In fallout 4, which everyone has the most problems with, the Sole Survivor is the one that moves settlement building along outside of places like Diamond City which even looks pretty nice. Everyone else is in survival mode because the institute is terrorizing them. So are raiders and gunners and mutants and you get the picture.
I mean 250 years ago in England, there was literal crap flooding the streets and sanitation services were just getting started. Of course an environment where there’s a million things trying to kill you and not enough people to delegate tasks would mean that there’s some clutter around and a couple holes in the roof
Rad-thing is the most boring way to name a mutated animal. Just like how "it has two heads/more limbs" is the laziest form of mutation.
i agree
holy fuck
