Garak is a lying liar who lies but I love in particular his lies where he doesn’t bother to make them believable.
Everybody knows he was in the Obsidian Order.
The Plain and Simple Tailor lie isn’t to convince people that is true. It’s Garak’s way of saying he is *ex* Obsidian Order, that he doesn’t want to talk about it, that his cooperation depends on respecting that boundary.
can I just say that we all owe Kojima an apology for Metal Gear Solid 2? He looked right into the camera and said “the future of information control will not be censorship, it will be drowning people in trivial noise and misinformation until people partition themselves into their own separate realities” in TWO THOUSAND AND ONE. Three years before Facebook existed. Kojima gave us the biggest Babe-Ruth-pointing-at-the-sky called shot of all time and we weren’t ready for it.
Continues to be fucked up that you can't say "I legit mistakenly thought this cis girl was a tgirl at first" and trust that it'll be interpreted as having a positive connotation. It's a complement! The "one of us" chant is only scary if you hate the circus freaks!
every time i've mistaken a cis girl for a tgirl it was because she had great vibes.
and/or great style
I wasn't sure about letting this Hydromancer into the party at first, but it turns out her sword arm is unparalleled, and she only dabbled into Hydromancy so she could intentionally contain the enemy's blood after she rained countless slashes upon them like a meteor shower on the clear night sky for the express purpose of striking a pose, muttering "zan", and then releasing all of the blood on their wounds at once in a spectacle that the villager elder described "sick as fuck".
while i really do understand the desire to not cede the term to TERFs, i really do think at this point that the term "radical feminism" is unsalvageable for transfeminism.
you can argue about the origins of the term all you want, and that history is important to be aware of, but fundamentally in this day and age most trans women who hear about a "radfem" are going to be understandably cagey, and appeals to history are not going to effectively shake that belief!
quite the contrary, labeling your politics "radical feminist" is likely to drive away many transfeminists who otherwise would have been very open to coalition building, especially when the modern crop of such self-identified "transradfems" are mostly known for palling around with detransitioners and writing horrific ableist screeds.
it's a correct approach to try to not reinvent the wheel and learn from our feminist forebears even in their failings, but drawing the line in the sand around the term "radical feminism" is worse than useless when, to most transfeminists, it makes you sound like an autistic advocate trying to name their improvement to autistic lives ABA to "reclaim" it from conversion therapy.
it's bad propaganda and it's bad coalition building, and will only make the transfeminist politic more fragmented if you keep prescribing a new definition to a term that, objectively, most of the trans women you're trying to reach associate with their worst oppressors.
If I had a nickel for every well-known “transfeminist” theorist that was willing to sacrifice further-marginalized transfems for their own benefit, tried to reclaim “rad fem”, and who’s name begins with “Ta”, I’d have two nickels which is only one away from being enemy action
"La Hee!"
i have nothing to show y'all right now so here's aerti i was working on weeks ago
