five’s message had been cryptic— not surprising, sure, but still after all this time luther thought maybe he would have learned to be more direct. telling them to meet in the courtyard- under the oak tree ( dad’s favorite spot )- but with no other information as to why exactly they were all requested for this meeting? it’s not surprising that he’s the only one there. then again, there seemed to be a sense of urgency in the message which was what had ultimately brought him out there— maybe he’s a little surprised no one else showed up.
five’s irritation is palpable the second he stepped foot onto the courtyard and when his brother warped directly in his face, he could almost feel it radiating off of him in waves. luther’s head shook and he took a step back from five- ( god, i’m never going to get used to that. )- looking over the other’s shoulder as if waiting for allison or klaus or anyone to come sweeping in after five to his rescue. alas, no such luck. great.
“it doesn’t look like they’re coming,” and maybe there was a hint of disappointment in his voice, whether it was at the fact that their brothers and sisters had bailed on this meeting itself or at how they hadn’t swooped in to rescue luther from five’s agitation was unclear. luther’s eyes flickered back towards five’s face and those thick shoulders lift in a slight shrug, “looks like you’re going to be saying whatever you have to say at least twice. what’s all this about, five?”
“No, I’m not repeating this! If they can’t be bothered to show up, who fucking needs them?” Five turned and stomped away, fuming. He was the oldest of his many, many siblings but he could throw a tantrum like a child. Well no surprise, he had been a kid on three separate occasions. He paused suddenly, then turned back to his brother. “Thank you, by the way,” he said softly, pacing back towards Luther then patting him on a meaty forearm, “for coming when I asked. I always knew your loyalty made up for your slightly below average IQ.”
He smirked, then scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Suddenly eye contact seemed rather difficult. “I just felt like I should tell you... I’m in over my head.” He licked his dry lips, staring at the ground. It was a struggle, Five opening up to anyone, although if he had to choose to tell anyone his secrets, it would be Luther. He could be an idiot, sure, but he was a kind idiot. His heart was always in the right place, and Five knew his immeasurable physical strength was nothing compared to the strength of his character. “I don’t know what causes the apocalypse this time. And I should tell you... that it scares me to death.” He managed to catch his brother’s eye and his steely expression took hold again, eyebrows sliding down his face to furrow at his brow. “But obviously I’m not telling you that. Just that I should be.”
