The protests come after the government rushed through a terrible new budget, which included cuts of 25 million in malnutrition prevention, while raising the amount of money spent on meals for congress members, among many other terrible right-wing cuts, such a cutting funding for the judicial system, indigenous people and the human rights ombudsman. Teachers are petty cops/authoritarians and propagandists and need not be worshiped for what good they do when so often it is outweighed by the harm they inflict.

Teachers will.see as mentally ill child and ask and ask "is anyone going to traumatize them?" and not even wait for a response

Teachers are instrumental in snuffing out the spark of freedom inside children, teaching them that the world is a place of rules and authority. Teachers constantly use the threat of ostracism through social failure (failure to become educated) as a stick to threaten children into conformity. And we wonder why so many of us grew up depressed.

Teachers love authority and surveillance and snitching. Have you ever encountered a moment where the teacher was mistaken about the curriculum and you knew the real answer? Do you ever wonder why it didn't matter, why the teacher cared more about the lesson plan than actually educating.

It's because schooling is about teaching someone how to submit to authority first. The education part is purely incidental.

In cities all over the islands demonstrators were met with brutal repression,  and in response battled riot police in the streets and attacked government buildings.
