So I’m having IMMENSE brainrot of the lovely comic “RATS” by mello on the app Tapas, and doodled the two main characters Nikolaj and Faye.

I normally don’t post my lazy doodles here or anything, but I did want to post this one because I really want to help grow the fandom! I’m seeing such a lack of RATS fans/exposure in general when it’s such an underrated comic that I truly think deserves more love.

I am sadly failing to find an actual concrete fandom for it but I would love to interact with any fans of this comic if y'all are out there!! Adam is probably the character I've made the most changes to. I'm sure there's a reason Viv made the Exorcists look like that, but it never made much sense to me. I leaned into him liking rock/metal music, though trying to keep elements from the original design.

I just finished reading chapter 2. Sinner Adam is just an hallucination in this story, right? But he somehow managed to start a hot bath for Sinner Lute. How is that possible? Is he secretly real and alive?!

So for clarification, the Adam you see is in chapter 2 is not a hallucination. He’s the real guy, just as a sinner. Lute automatically assumes she’s still seeing things in her head when she wakes up in Hell and sees him, but she’s not. She’s mainly going through denial at that point. Adam catches onto this, and takes off his mask to try and take her out of that mindset.

In chapter 1, sinner Adam hasn’t been introduced yet; it’s just Lute stuck in Heaven with her hallucination of him. But in chapter 2, he is introduced for real, hence why he’s a lot more genuine.

Edit: okay I went back and I understand the confusion now 😅 In the author’s note of chapter one I clarified that Adam is just a sinner in that chapter… but mistakably posted that to the author’s note of the entire fic instead of chapter one alone!

Why does my writing get so much better the SECOND I start writing for Lute instead of Adam 😭😭😭

Sinner Adam & Lute’s reunion needs to have this dialogue between the two of them. This conversation is necessary for the foundation of their relationship/romance in season three or four. Maybe in Hazbin Hotel season five?

Lute: “Why did you smile at me before you died?”

Adam: “How the hell should I know the reason why I smiled to the only person who gives a shit about a bastard like me. Now it’s your turn to answer my question. Why do you fucking care so much about me? You became a fallen angel just so you can spend the rest of eternity with me trapped down here in this hellhole. Why?”

Lute: “It’s because… I always wanted to… tell you…”

Adam: “For fuck sake, just spit it out already! Why are you taking so long to answer the damn question?! The only possible answer I can think of why you care about me is because your in love with me, or some shit.”

Lute: “You just answered your own question.”

Adam: “What the fuck does that mea… wait a minute… holy shit.” (He’s finally aware of Lute’s true feelings for him 😳)

Adam: “Do you honestly feel that way about me?”

Lute: “Fuck yes, Adam.”

Adam: “Well in that case, maybe the other reason why I smiled at you before my shitty death is because I realized that I finally found my dream girl and I was such a dumbass that I never thought Creation would give me a third chance to feel loved.”

Lute: “Does that mean you feel the same way?”

Adam: “Lute, let me give it to you straight. It fucking sucks that Hell is definitely forever for the both of us. Heaven is overrated and all the angels are a bunch of self-righteous hypocrite fucking assholes. But at least I get to spend the rest of eternity with the last woman I’ll ever love. I don’t need to go back to Heaven, as long as I’m with you.”

Lute: Adam… you complete me! (She’s happily crying 🥰)

I would honestly love to read a fic where something like this happens. We need more wholesome moments between these two after everything that happened between them. I really need to see them confess to one another already! If and when that happens, I can die happy haha.

How did you react when Lute threatened Vox?

Also, is it just me or does Lute look really menacing and sexy at the same time when she’s doing her gargoyle pose?

While I wasn’t too surprised at Lute threatening Vox, I was honestly very relieved lol. It was a breath of fresh air to finally see her step up after being basically sidelined since episode 2 and her Gravity moment. I wish that scene lasted a little longer actually!

And yes, anon. You are SO right haha, our girl is the perfect mixture of hot and dangerous! We love her for that <3 And I honestly think her little gargoyle poses are adorable
