A fun game for quarantine
So with everybody trapped inside and looking for reasons not to strangle their loved ones in their sleep, I thought I’d share a game my gf and I made up. All you need to play is a way of generating a random number between 1 and 100. This generator will do it. We play Call of Cthulhu, so we have percentile dice lying around the house.
We call the game “Spectrum.” This is a game that is best played with someone you know really, really well.
You only need 2 players: the clue-giver, and the guesser.
The guesser names a spectrum: meaning, any 2 things that could be mapped onto a range. For example:
- Sexy to unsexy
- Round to pointy
- Underrated to overrated
- Sandwich to not a sandwich
- Guilty pleasure to respectable source of fun
- normal thing to say to someone at the office to weird thing to say to someone at the office
And so on. For this example, let’s say the spectrum is polite to rude.
The clue-giver then rolls 1-100, and hides the result from the guesser. Let’s say they roll a 66. The clue-giver now needs to think of an example of something that is exactly 66% of the way into the Polite to Rude spectrum.
They then give that example to the guesser. Let’s say they decide their clue would be: “Going to a friend’s dinner party and bringing a nice dessert, serving the dessert on your friend’s dish, then taking the dish home with the leftover dessert and never returning the dish.”
It is now the guesser’s job to guess what number they rolled.
My gf and I have known each other for ten years, so we can regularly guess within 3 of the number! In the example above, she picked that clue for 66% on a polite-to-rude spectrum, and I got it exactly right.
we’ve had a lot of fun with this game, so if you try it and have fun with it, let us know!
my favorite was when aria rolled on the spectrum of unsexy to sexy, and proceeded to describe a french werewolf priest wracked with abject guilt over his desires who has turned to god in a last-ditch attempt to restrain himself from monstrosity and pseudo-cannibalism.
I guessed 99%. the answer was 100%.
so that’s it, that’s the absolute pinnacle of sexy for us as a couple. I am at peace.
Polygon played basically this game on Overboard, for those of us who need multiple live examples in order to understand game mechanics.
Isn’t it crazy how women are supposed to be in their 20s their whole life.
including when they’re in their teens
THIS IS THE CUTEST THING EVER
Doctor: [singing 'Come and Get Your Love' by Redbone to oneself]: Tka tka tooh, do do do do do do, de do do do do do beow beow beow beow beow beow buh nuh, bah dah buh buh buh buh, hey!
Someone else: Hey!
Doctor: What?
how do you know if you're in love???
I honestly asked my friend this same question just hours ago as I was clueless myself but thinking about it now I think it’s when for the first time after what seemed like a dreadful year (or life), you look forward to waking every morning knowing he (let’s use he as it’s me talking) will be there for you. I think it’s just plain seeing him and being happy that’s he’s around. It’s being happy just by hearing his voice. No matter how bad your day is, one message from him would make your entire day. It’s when he makes you want to write long letters and huge poems. It’s not all about “lust”- it’s more of the intimate relationship you have together. It’s when the simplest of things count. It’s when you start to mature and start to plan something with him for the future. It’s when he makes you want to start fixing your life. It’s when he’s always in your head 3 pm or 3 am. It’s when you can’t stop talking or thinking about him. It’s when you just really always miss him even if he’s right beside you. It’s the “I used to like green eyes but now blue eyes are my favorite”. It’s when all love and cheesy stuff just apply for him. It’s when you begin to see nothing but him and you value him like you value yourself. It’s not the “heart pounding, hands sweating” feeling but more of the “I feel home” feeling. It’s more of like talking to yourself- being yourself with someone without worries. It’s when you begin to really trust him with everything and that includes your happiness. It’s when he’s your happiness. It’s when subconsciously you change for the better. It’s when you once again start opening up after a long time. It’s when you are denying it at most cause you are afraid of how strong you feel and last I think while you’re reading this- there’s someone in your head right now and you’re just contemplating whether you’re in love with him or not but hey the fact that he or she is the person (out of billions of people) in your mind while you read this must say a lot.
What do you do when you lose this kind of love?
I broke up with the person I was thinking of while writing this because that’s what you do when you lose this kind of love- you let go and you move on.
You don’t cling onto the person because “two and a half years has been a long time and it’s a waste to end it here”. You end it because you’ve had enough thinking twice whether the person is still worth staying with or not. You let go because you find yourself looking back, comparing and missing the old times than cherishing the present. You let go because you have to stop defending that person and start facing the truth that things have changed. You let go because you let go of anything that upsets you whether it be work, hobby or a person.
And you let go because you have to stop being selfish. There is someone out there wanting to love the person you’re holding onto and they deserve to feel this genuine love from someone and not a pity love from you.
When you lose this kind of love, you move on. You do it because it’s the best choice for you. You move on because you’ve been hurt enough and it’s time to be happy. You move on because you don’t deserve to doubt the love that someone gives you. You move on and whenever you crumble, remind yourself on why you left in the first place.
And you move forward because you won’t find the right person for you while you’re holding onto the wrong one.
This is the realest advice I could have ever read, and everyone deserves to read this.
the maps coined a new term to call themselves
P.E.A.R,aka “pro-expression, anti-repression" was a term coined by well known pedophile 4-lung stay safe y’all, and block these sick freaks
theyve also been using the pear emoji along with the acronym to identify each other
Because “MAP” was too blatant and lets you know what their real intentions are when you explain that acronym. This one, you have to actually delve into why they call it this. This is literally them trying to rebrand pedophilia a second time because the first time wasnt good enough.
Reblogging to let my followers know that pedophiles are using MAP and PEAR acronyms / icon.
Also if you have kids please talk to them / warn them. Even if “they don’t use the internet without my supervision.” Kids are great at cracking passwords. And what if one of their friends brings a cell phone to school, etc.
I hope everyone stays safe and away from these creeps
bruh. i think ign snapped
This is what sleep-deprivation induced psychosis feels like
Its 4:30 in the AM and I am fucking LOSING it over this
One of my favorite things to see is random people trying to interact with unfamiliar outdoor cats. Just standing there with a hand out, making kissy noises, maybe meowing at the cat while it ignores them. Mankind at its best and least dignified
#stop calling me out
if you want to interact with a cat that doesn’t know you, sit down not facing it. glance at it occasionally and make an inviting noise, but mostly just play with your phone or whatever.
the cat will almost certainly come over to check you out sooner or later. it’ll stay out of arm’s reach because it doesn’t know if you’re a jerk. offer your hand and let the cat sniff. wait. if the cat wants pettins, it will indicate that by noofing your hand, flopping on its side, or coming in close.
the cat may want to be bros but not get pettins. in that case, it will sit or lie near you but out of reach. this is friendly! the cat is saying, you’re a person in my neighborhood! hi neighbor!
of course, it’s possible that the cat is a great big cuddleslut and will come love all over you. that happens too. but if it doesn’t, that doesn’t mean it’s an unfriendly cat. be chill and let the cat choose how close to get, and you’ll find most cats are pretty friendly.
The only information that matters
“Ghost Apples” in the Fruit Ridge area of Kent County, Michigan.
An unusual phenomenon when freezing rain coats rotting apples before they fall, the apple turns mushy and eventually slips out, leaving the icy shell still hanging on the tree.

today i saw a cat who immediately and casually hissed at me on sight but after i said “that’s rude” he meowed politely
this is ridiculous but also fascinating like everyone in our dream are apparently people we have encountered/seen
someone said ‘the version of me you created in your mind is not my responsibility’ and wow
I think the best kind of writing is one where the reader is like damn, I wanna create something that makes others feel like how I’m feeling right now.
Good writing, it politely knocks on your door and introduces itself to you like a welcome guest and after it leaves you are forever nostalgic for that fateful encounter you once had but cannot replicate.
Which is good, but…
The best writing is the kind that kicks your door down, leaves you winded and steals your chickens tauntingly as it leaves. It makes you want to go to your neighbors and friends and scream about them, because how dare they make me feel things, dammit? and leaves you heaving and lurching for more, tempting you into trying out some chicken stealing for yourself.
Good writing is complete in itself. But, the best kind of writing inspires and leaves behind a ripple-effect of creation that makes it seem like it was never really gone.
The aftermath of bearing witness to the best kind of writing is an act of creation itself. The best kind of writing makes its audience a verb, a force, a creator.
That.
That is the kind of writing I wanna do.
