My mom likes to tell me about how when I was a little kid riding public transport with her I'd always smile and giggle and chat with weird old ladies who smelled like cat pee and homeless folks and strangers dressed in bizarre outfits but any time a tidy and respectable businessman in a suit and tie waved at me I'd immediately clam up, and she takes a great deal of pride in my supposed inherentability to clock personalities but the truth is I do vaguely remember those bus rides, and it was never about the clothes or the hair or the smell, but more because everyone "strange" asked interesting questions and listened to what I had to say and seemed to think about what I said while the neat and tidy and rigid folks only ever acted like they were going through the motions, which was boring as hell and also pretty annoying

I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.

I know i have already discussed this ad nauseum, but I love that Shane never talks down to Ilya because of his weaker english skills. especially at the beginning when he’s just moved from russia. he just talks like he would with anyone else.

similarly, i love that ilya never teases or laughs at shane when he misses obvious conversational cues (re: ilya asking shane four times in florida if he is still seeing rose). he obviously finds it endearing mostly but even when he starts to get frustrated and just asks outright he never makes shane feel lesser or aware of his misstep. he’s endlessly patient with it

they are both just so earnest with each other, sort of unintentionally??? they really are like fated mates hehe <3

my general opinion on what people should be "allowed" to portray and what topics they should be "allowed" to explore in fiction is that you can make whatever art with whatever themes you want but i'm also allowed to think the way you handled it was tasteless and should've been done differently. my negative opinion on your handling of sensitive topics is the price of admission for publicly showcasing your work. this is not a pro-censorship stance because i am not The Government

Seriously, get and run PiHole if you can. It changes your internet experience so much for the better. I get shocked when I visit a website when I'm someone else's network, by just how many ads the internet is flooded with now. Take back control.

i want to see it. all of it. notice the way you’re always so composed, confident. always in control, and i want nothing more than to be gentle with you.

not because i want less of your strength my darling. but because i love your strength so much that i notice the weight of it.

notice how often youre reaching first, deciding first..carrying so much without being asked. i see the way everyone turns towards you..expecting certainty, guidance, control. expecting that..steadiness.

but all i can think about is that you deserve somewhere you don’t have to hold everything together.

that you deserve to be known in all of the quiet places too…the sleepy parts, the uncertain parts. those tiny moments when you hesistate before speaking. the rare occasion you ask for reassurance under thinly veiled casualty.

there’s something so heartbreakingly intimate about trusting me with that.

trusted enough to see the softness you keep buried beneath the confidence.

trusted enough that you don’t always have to answer. and that’s okay.

to be the place you can simply exist without leading, performing..dominating.

i want to be the person you reach for instinctively after a long day..i need you to know that you never have to earn that tenderness. the kind that comes when i hold your face and kiss you so softly. feeling the way you relax into me, just for a moment.

there’s something so lovely about knowing that beneath the confidence and the charm, the dominance you portray so well, is a heart that you rarely place in someone else’s hands.

and then one day, somehow, it’s placed in mine.
