Now with James Herondale. The emperor and empress Major Arcana cards from the tarot by Gabriella Bujdoso: the Emperor card represents leadership, and a mastery over the “worlds of matter” — dimensions, perhaps! I love how James’ crown is shadows, and Cordelia’s is fire.

It’s January 3rd, which means it’s been One Year and One Day since The Cruel Prince was published! I’ve always wanted to sketch Cardan in this scene - to capture the hatred and betrayal on his face while staring at Jude. And while Jude’s emotions aren’t described in the text, it would be fun to interpret how she could have possibly looked staring back. :)

I swear, sketching is the only way to cure these book hangovers. Does anyone else see the potential in the lines from Cardan’s drunken spat for Valentine’s Day cards?

I think this piece rounds off my Wicked King recovery nicely. There is so much juxtaposition in the sequel compared to the Cruel Prince, and this one was the most literal.

Cardan on puppet strings is a very common motif among his fanart - but Holly LITERALLY made Jude a puppet on strings in the sequel that the comparison had to be made! The fact that they were both tied down due to polarizing forces offered us readers what will be the most excruciating catch-22 of 2019. (I found it hilarious Jude being so self conscious about her dress for Taryn’s wedding - I made it suuuuuper low cut)

🐍 A sneaky, schemey papercraft inspired by the Hewn City scene from #ACOMAF. When Daphne (@illumicrate) approached me with the request for a Hewn City inspired mug, she and I both agreed that the ‘throne scene’ was a bit overdone. (and honestly, I don’t think I’d be able to keep my beverage down drinking from a mug like that. I’d snort-choke every time.) But what else was our power couple doing at the Hewn City OTHER than enjoying a complimentary chair massage? Why, the chin hold of course! 🐍
