Confession || Junie & Apollo
As she led Apollo away to talk to him privately, she shook her head, smiling sotly. “N-No, nothing like that, Apollo. Everything’s okay. This is…more a matter of the heart, really. But thank you Apollo…I can’t wait for that day too. Well…actually as it stands, I might not be able to judge one of your trials, because it wouldn’t do to have me biased…”
The law student let out a deep breath and nodded, finding her resolve. “…because you see…one of my resolutions I set for myself was to finally tell the man I have feelings for how I feel about him…today. T-That was one of my short-term ones.” Juniper felt a cough try to force its way out, but she wrestled with it, forcing it back. Though it did cause her to pause noticeably.
“…That’s why I-I wanted to talk to you, Apollo…” She murmured, her breathing becoming more staggered as her heart raced in her chest. “T-That kiss under the mistletoe…t-the reason I kissed you on the lips is because…i-it meant more than you think…I wanted you to know that I…I love you Apollo. I-I guess t-the message didn’t get through with just actions though…s-so here I am…s-saying it aloud…”
And now the coughing finally surfaced as she nervously awaited his response. She tried to shut out this voice saying he would reject her, he didn’t feel the same, it was ridiculous. Juniper needed to focus on her strength, just like Athena had told her, even if it didn’t seem like there was a lot right now.
A matter of the heart? Apollo tilted his head to the side in confusion, not sure what she meant by that. If this was about her heart, shouldn’t she be talking to Athena instead? She could hear the voices of people’s hearts after all.
“Biased? What are you saying? I’m sure you’ll be a fair judge, Junie. No need to worry about such things. Even if we’re friends you can judge it just fine. I seek justice after all, not just victories.”
Confess? Apollo was even more confused now. What was she talking about? He waited patiently as she spoke. He was used to the girl taking a while before she had told what she wanted to, that’s just how she was on a daily basis.
Oh. OH. So that’s how it was--
Apollo cleared his throat nervously, a hand reaching to rub the back of his neck. Now he thought about it, it had been pretty obvious. And if he was honest with himself, ever since that kiss his heart skipped a beat whenever he saw Junie, or heard Athena mention her name. His bracelet didn’t react, so she definitely wasn’t lying or trying to prank him (yes, that had happened before.)
“You mean you have a crush on me? I-I think I have a crush on you too, Junie. I can’t stop thinking about about.”
