Jay has tons of freckles on her face, up and down her arms, all over. One time she woke up to Chip connecting them with a magic marker, and she kicked him in the head. Earl thought this was hilarious.
Earl cooks for the crew, partly because he likes to and partly because the one time he let anyone else try, Chip almost burned down the ship (again) and Gillion had to put the lower decks out with water.
Chip smiles lopsidedly, and when he grins he mainly shows the left half of his teeth.
They have party nights, and both Riptide and Grandberry pirates play music together. They usually give Olly cider or non-alcoholic mulled wine, in a tankard like everyone else.
John has long hair, and he wears it in a tight bun or a long plait. He lets Olly mess with it, and one time he ended up with flowers braided into his hair like a crown. He wore the flowers proudly, and kept them until they wilted.
Gillion wears Aslana’s bracelet on his left wrist next to the crescent tattoo, to remind himself both of the promises he makes, and why he makes them.
Lizzy is taller than Chip. She likes to lean on him and use his head as an armrest. He usually tries and fails to kick her when she does. Lizzy also knows how to Judo flip people, and she’ll flip him over on the deck as retaliation. Earl thinks this is also hysterical.
Caspien and Gillion speak different dialects of Aquan, so sometimes they try to speak to each other to see how much of a convo they can hold (like France French vs Canadian French).
Chip tells everyone that he likes black coffee, but when Olly makes it for him he puts in a fuckton of milk and sugar. Jay drinks chamomile tea with honey, or coffee with milk. Gillion drinks straight milk out of the carton.
Gillion likes skirts, because they’re similar to his robes from the undersea. He tries to coordinate his outfit with Jay sometimes, much to her mock annoyance. He constantly bemoans the lack of pockets in Oversea skirts and dresses.
Chip still has one of Julian’s combs, but he has yet to master the art of a pompadour.
