The Lolas - Soul 70 Rare soul groove!
This is a really neat instrumental version of the Curtis Mayfield classic "Little Child, Running Wild", by French guitarist, Claude Ciari. Fun fact about him; he became the first Caucasian to run for a seat in the upper house of the government of Japan! 😮😀
E.C.Arinze & His Music (v. Godwin Omabuwa) - “Lumumba Calypso”
Nigerian highlife afrolypso about the deposition and subsequent execution of Congo’s first democratically elected prime minister, Patrice Lumumba.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!! :D Desmond Dekker - Dracula I've found old-school horror reggae kind of hard to find, so enjoy this chune from the mighty Desmond Dekker!
One more day till Halloween! Here is: Zombie Stomp - The Del-Aires, some fun horror rockabilly/surf rock. Enjoy!
Mad Monster Party - Ethel Ennis
Ah, it's my favorite time of the year; coming close to Halloween! A perfect time for a spooky cut! This is a gorgeously made version of the song Mad Monster party by a highly underrated jazz singer, Ethel Ennis. Deliciously haunting and rich with a full orchestra. Enjoy! A great add to your Halloween playlist!
From The Bottom Of My Soul - Eddie Hazel What an epic over 10-minute long jam this is! With this blog, I not only wanted to help bring to light little known artists with very little recognition to a new audience, I also wanted to remind others of some forgotten gems that slipped through the cracks to an extent. Eddie Hazel is one of the talents that I would consider to be the latter, and this cut is just one example of his genius. Otherworldly guitar solo after 5 minutes or so. Perfect song to zone out to, enjoy!
The Moody Blues - The Evening: Sunset | Twilight Time The Moody Blues are perhaps not that obscure of a band (though not that popular either, and certainly underrated, especially depending on where you live, but I digress) however, I believe this is somewhat one of their lesser known songs, from the same album that Nights In White Satin is from (Days Of Future Passed, 1967) this is The Evening: Sunset | Twilight Time, which is equally as hauntingly beautiful. This was a concept album that was recorded as an orchestral song cycle, of a typical work day. Enjoy! :)
Young Jessie - Brown Eyes (Come On Home)
Hey all, I'm back with a good one for you guys; this is a sultry popcorn R&B cut by Young Jessie, some really nice guitar work in there. Can't go wrong with a soulful voice and a hypnotic riff. Enjoy!
Just wanted to say keep up the fantastic work! Came across this site by accident and checked out everything you have here---great great stuff. I'll be back! best, Macon
Hi Macon! That is so awesome that you enjoy all my posts, I really appreciate you reaching out! If there is anything you're more interested in hearing, regarding genres and such, feel free to let me know! -Giselle
Gorgeous version of the Mongo Santamaria classic, "Afro Blue" by Abbey Lincoln :)
Sweet Rockabilly gem by Charlie Feathers named "That Certain Female", enjoy! :)
Real foxy mid-tempo Popcorn soul tune, this is Soul Sounds by The Jokers. Enjoy! :)
