Do you know why soap operas get so wacky and dramatic? Because most peoples lives aren't that interesting. You find a person, you settle down, you have kids, you get stuck into a career path. There's only so many places you can go. So if you want to keep a show going, you have to keep resetting those things, especially in a procedural show where you can't actually play with setting or jobs. Either that or you pull a Grey's Anatomy and the cast cycles out every few years.

I miss looking forward to watching 9-1-1. I was in from season 1, ground floor, and I held on for a long time because of Buddie, especially since Buck came out as Bi. But then they killed off Bobby. And Buck is back to being single and the show runners are back to queer baiting and I just... I keep logging into Tumblr hoping to see something that makes me want to come back, but it just seems like the same soap opera-y plot twist shit, without meaningful character growth. The writers are out of ideas and keep escalating or returning to the same-old-stuff. Most of the characters are settled, except for Buddie. So they keep drawing it out, and making shit weird, and I just... I'd be so sad to log in one day and see that it happened and have the surprise ruined. But I also can't bring myself to actually watch. And IDK what to do about any of it.

Tbh if that happens there’s only like 2 straight people on the show in total and one of them burned his wife in an apartment fire, so I feel like no one’s character is unscathed here… this feels a bit like fishing for oppression in a show that has rep left right and center

Also, it's not as though the writers are directly paralleling queerness and cheating. Eddie & Buck were assumedly straight and in het relationships when the cheating happened. It would be one thing if we had known Buck was bi and had cheated on Taylor with a man, or if Eddie was with a dude behind Marisol's back, but since that's not the case, I'm not particularly concerned.
