Okay so did anyone else accidently watch the leaked game changer episode or was that just me?

You cannot comprehend the pain of hyperfixating on these two. They're a niche ship from a niche show, we're out here starving. At least it's canon

this post may lack a little structure, but. im thinking about how sarah westcott warren had no biological relations to the warren children, and frankly did not have the most developed relationship with all of them in the first place. her role as a wife and mother was never one that felt fully cemented as something conventional, and its something she brings up a lot in regards to her age and hesitance at throwing her life down for her children (but i have only just met them she points out very accurately). she very very quickly realizes how much life as a warren isnt living up her expectations, so she doesnt ever feel like much of a dutiful wife. just a scared hostage who happens to be living in a house with younger, also scared hostages. this is all to say that her connection to the warren name/lineage was something that doesnt seem so firm when actually seen from her perspective.

BUT! it is Her brooch that is passed down through the warren line. not so much the legacy of being a warren, as that genealogical memory has eroded, but Her legacy is what remains. for all she was not a very conventional wife/mother, her contribution was what was passed down. and then we find it with ruth. a woman who is partly argued to be more disposable because of her lack of marriage and supposed lack of children. ruth, even after we discover that she had a child, is still not someone that fits the conventions of serving "proper" motherhood, similar to sarah.

theres something so neat about how, even without blood connecting them, it feels like its sarah's legacy that has held on longer. additionally, lets look at patricia, single and living on her own, and her resistance at the idea that ruth's potential death will not be as bad as it couldve been, since she is (also) single and living on her own. all of this together, with these three women being central figures in the narrative, it asserts this recurring idea that women who do not fit into conventional roles as mothers and wives are monumentally valuable as people and characters, even when, or maybe especially when, they seem easy to cast aside.
