Hi I'm Almost Done Asking I Swear
I'm just really tired of not having a safe or permanent place to live. I have job interviews and an offer to share an apartment in New York
tldr: I'm arguably homeless, I have a chance not to be, please help, the person I've been staying with has started fighting me physically and breaks my shit and I don't have a bedroom or a bed and rn i don't have food or shampoo so it's bleak ngl. I've got 0.78 cents in my bank account.
Things I can do (in August/September) in exchange for donations:
(Prices negotiable, at least 10 dollars for something that takes an hour of work, or is otherwise taxing like adult projects.)
(I also am jezifster on v3nm0 and c@shapp)
Graphics and moodboards, book covers. Making icons. Examples under the cut at the bottom. I use stock images so you should be able to use what I make freely. $2 dollar minimum for a simple one. Book covers are $15. Everything else in between.
Writing commissions. I don't write fanfiction about popular series's but I will write it about your own OCs or OC x reader or pretty much whatever you can think of. Including smut. $5 per 2k or negotiable.
Sensitivity reading. I'm a POC, trans ftm, bisexual, have dealt with a lot of mental health issues personally and in my family, as well as substance abuse/addiction/recovery and poverty, and have ADHD. So those areas are where I'm most comfortable sensitivity reading, especially when it comes to political themes in narratives/worldbuilding. Negotiable.
Voice acting, recording audio for short stories, essays, poems, DnD background characters idk whatever pretty much, including adult or NSFW projects cough cough audio porn cough. Varies. Idk what to charge tbh.
Homework help. I'm really good at essays. I'm not saying I'll write your essay for you because that would be wild of me to say. I'm really good at them though. College level is fine unless it's super advanced old English lit or something but if that's your major you probably want to write your own papers. $20 dollars for a short one, works cited and formatting included. Mainly the cost is for the time it takes to research and outline.
Visual images or video. Discuss it with me though first. What kind of images or video? Please infer from my vagueness. Idk what to charge for that just talk to me about it ig
Alpha/beta reading and detailed commentary. This will probably happen early September as I already have a backlog of this bc I've been scrambling to survive lately. Prices negotiable.
Transcribing audio to text. Writing descriptions for images. $10 an hour.
Whatever tbh. I'll call your ex and just breathe really loud into the phone for $2
More examples under the cut:
TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS
I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, I’ve got your solution.
Native-Languages is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.
Thank you!
Native Languages is a great website. I use it for my fact-checking since it always has reliable links to tribal sites.
Welcome!
I'm going to update this list as I post more. So make sure to check periodically!

Hey folks, if you're looking for a generalized term to use in place of "shaman," a number of academic folks have been using the term "ritual specialist."
(If anyone needs an explanation why you ought to use a different term, one is over here.)

Good Traits Gone Bad
Exploring good traits gone bad in a novel can add depth and complexity to your characters. Here are a few examples of good traits that can take a negative turn:
1. Empathy turning into manipulation: A character with a strong sense of empathy may use it to manipulate others' emotions and gain an advantage.
2. Confidence becoming arrogance: Excessive confidence can lead to arrogance, where a character belittles others and dismisses their opinions.
3. Ambition turning into obsession: A character's ambition can transform into an unhealthy obsession, causing them to prioritize success at any cost, including sacrificing relationships and moral values.
4. Loyalty becoming blind devotion: Initially loyal, a character may become blindly devoted to a cause or person, disregarding their own well-being and critical thinking.
5. Courage turning into recklessness: A character's courage can morph into reckless behavior, endangering themselves and others due to an overestimation of their abilities.
6. Determination becoming stubbornness: Excessive determination can lead to stubbornness, where a character refuses to consider alternative perspectives or change their course of action, even when it's detrimental.
7. Optimism becoming naivety: Unwavering optimism can transform into naivety, causing a character to overlook dangers or be easily deceived.
8. Protectiveness turning into possessiveness: A character's protective nature can evolve into possessiveness, where they become overly controlling and jealous in relationships.
9. Altruism becoming self-neglect: A character's selflessness may lead to neglecting their own needs and well-being, to the point of self-sacrifice and burnout.
10. Honesty becoming brutal bluntness: A character's commitment to honesty can turn into brutal bluntness, hurting others with harsh and tactless remarks.
These examples demonstrate how even admirable traits can have negative consequences when taken to extremes or used improperly. By exploring the complexities of these traits, you can create compelling and multi-dimensional characters in your novel.
Happy writing!
Hi :3
Hope this doesn't bother you, and you don't have to answer if you don't want, but do you have any tips for writing about characters drunk? I don't drink but my characters do XD
Okay yeah I gotcha. I'm going to give some broad tips, and if you have a more specific question feel free to ask. CW: alcohol related talk
But you want to get your character drunk?
There are a few main points about being drunk: Mood, exposure, impulsivity, experience, and motor skills, etc.
Motor skills:
These are easy; they get worse. But people may do things they don't usually do while sober, like climb a tree or try a backflip, etc, just because they wouldn't normally try it. Maybe they manage or maybe not.
Mood:
There's happy drunks, relaxed drunks, party drunks, angry drunks, sad drunks, adventurous drunks, philosophical drunks, etc. People aren't stuck being one or the other, they can change scene by scene, but a lot of people tend towards one over the others a lot of the time, so if that helps you, figure out what mood your character would tend to be in while drunk and how that would affect their actions.
Exposure:
Most people are more open while drunk and can easily say things that expose themselves more than they would be sober, which relates directly to my next point:
Impulsivity:
Alcohol is a depressant and one of the things it depresses is someone's inhibitions. People will be more suggestible while drunk, or more prone to making risky decisions on their own.
How it feels:
Warm, content, relaxed (buzzed), happy, giggly, floaty (tipsy). The next stage is where many people split off. They'll either want to move a lot or not move much. Options here are dancing, falling asleep, lots of people get really horny here also, it's a very vulnerable stage. It can either wind up with falling asleep, throwing up and falling asleep, alcohol poisoning, passing out, etc. The affect it has on them leads to my next point.
Experience:
Newbie drinkers getting drunk often leads to getting sick, blacking out, really impulsive behavior. And then there's seasoned alcoholics who get drunk every night on their couch and just watch TV. People can move along that scale or tend towards a certain reaction. If they drink regularly, their more intense reactions will go away and be replaced with either psychological or physical dependency, or they'll choose to deal with the cravings. Or be forced by life circumstances to give up the drinking. (If you're writing a washed-up alcoholic mentor character this is a good point to read.)
Hangovers:
can be different for everything, do whatever you want with this. They last anywhere from like an hour to 48 or more hours. Technically they last longer in dehydration etc but physically most people feel fine until they drink more or wait for it to wear off. (Hair of the dog: drinking alcohol in the morning to get rid of a hangover. It's unpleasant and terrible for you, but it does work. It converts the ethanol (a big contributor to the hangover) in your system back to alcohol. Which might make someone one buzzed or just normal, depending on how used to that they are.
This is a broad crash course, if you have more questions feel free to ask <3
Ref Recs for Whump Writers
Violence: A Writer’s Guide: This is not about writing technique. It is an introduction to the world of violence. To the parts that people don’t understand. The parts that books and movies get wrong. Not just the mechanics, but how people who live in a violent world think and feel about what they do and what they see done.
Hurting Your Characters: HURTING YOUR CHARACTERS discusses the immediate effect of trauma on the body, its physiologic response, including the types of nerve fibers and the sensations they convey, and how injuries feel to the character. This book also presents a simplified overview of the expected recovery times for the injuries discussed in young, otherwise healthy individuals.
Body Trauma: A writer’s guide to wounds and injuries. Body Trauma explains what happens to body organs and bones maimed by accident or intent and the small window of opportunity for emergency treatment. Research what happens in a hospital operating room and the personnel who initiate treatment. Use these facts to bring added realism to your stories and novels.
10 B.S. Medical Tropes that Need to Die TODAY…and What to Do Instead: Written by a paramedic and writer with a decade of experience, 10 BS Medical Tropes covers exactly that: clichéd and inaccurate tropes that not only ruin books, they have the potential to hurt real people in the real world.
Maim Your Characters: How Injuries Work in Fiction: Increase Realism. Raise the Stakes. Tell Better Stories. Maim Your Characters is the definitive guide to using wounds and injuries to their greatest effect in your story. Learn not only the six critical parts of an injury plot, but more importantly, how to make sure that the injury you’re inflicting matters.
Blood on the Page: This handy resource is a must-have guide for writers whose characters live on the edge of danger. If you like easy-to-follow tools, expert opinions from someone with firsthand knowledge, and you don’t mind a bit of fictional bodily harm, then you’ll love Samantha Keel’s invaluable handbook
