AFTER AN EXCEPTIONALLY LONG DAY of working at the bar, even daniel – who has a hard time falling asleep – is ready to pass out by the time he gets home. he’s been more inclined to try to sleep longer at night, though, knowing kiku is going to be there in his dreams. he still isn’t able to figure out if she’s just a figment of his imagination … but it feels real, and it’s nice to get break from his stressful, every day life. he doesn’t even get the chance to relax in his own bed ; quickly falls asleep on the living area’s couch.
the second she makes her presence known, daniel’s turning around to see her with a small, warm smile on his face. he hums in greeting and acknowledgement. ❛ what, are you not happy to see me earlier than usual ? ❜ he teases, his brows furrowing slightly, feigning offense. but after a moment, the small smile is back and he shrugs. ❛ tiring day, honestly. ❜ there’s not much more to say on the matter, him working more often nowadays to avoid an invitation from his parents to visit them. letting out a breath, daniel looks around the dream realm for a second before setting his eyes back on kiku.

it’s weird how they seem to have a meeting point in every dream she has of him . it’s always the same place and layout of apartment , but when they try to go out and explore the realm , the building changes each time . sometimes , the scenery changes depending on her feelings and the people they crossed with throughout their day . this clearly isn’t her place , so she wonders if it’s his , just as she wonders if he’s real . but every time she tries to poke his nose and cheeks , just to test if he’s real in flesh , she can always feel the warmth and tenderness of his skin . which is really confusing for her because she’ll really get upset if he turns out to be someone who’s only a figment of her imagination at night , when she feels lonely , since she really wants to meet him someday and actually get to talk to him face to face . although he tells her he’s real , she still doubts it .
“ no . as a matter - of - factly , you’re exactly the person i wanted to see ! ” giggling , she sits beside him and nudges his arm , humming in thought . “ have you ever thought , maybe if we weren’t exhausted the whole day , we wouldn’t be able to meet each other ? i’m still thinking what kind of science is happening between us for us to keep invading each other’s dreams like this . not that i’m complaining . you’re a better friend that i have than any in real life . ” she mumbles in pout , gazing back at him with a tired smile curling upon her lips . “ i think it’s as tiring as you . but heartbreaking too . my mind’s just all over the place . i’m surprised that i even have the time to dream despite the happenings of today . but i’m fine now ! because you’re here with me . ”
