"Helloo anyone home?"
"Honestly this place smells, but good recording place, 7/10"
*It had been fifteen years since the end of the world.
Liliana Zaïtseva was growing old, reaching fifthy. They never hoped they'de make it this far.
Greying hair at their temples, some streaks along their long, curly hair, put in an elegant half bun, half free hairdo. Structured, good quality clothes : brown dress pants and a vest without a top underneath. It was, after all, quite a hot summer day, and the sun was making their amber eyes glow quite pretilly, for once.
Like a ghost unable to truly live the town where it all happened, the nurse haunted the streets, looking fondly at new life all around. Like stubborn flowers growing in the cracks of pavement.
It was a calm sunny day and Liliana caught, with their two pupilled eye, a glimps of a familiar face, followed by the train of familiar hair.
Big black doe eyes.
A cute round face.
A familiar face structure.
Nadya ? No, it couldnt be.
But the face was so familiar, a blend of two people Ilya knew and cherished for months, even years. Kept somewhat of a bond with, even after the end of the end. Familial visits. Making sure the rebuild of life was going smoothly. Christmas presents. Halloween nights.
Until life grew people apart for a few years. No big deal.
But children changed a lot in a few years.*
- ... Faina ?
// @not-a-ex-fema-i-swear I FINALLY CAN SEND MY IDEA
{She clutches the camera to her chest, giving them a warm smile, she changed alot, matured into something greater then the child they once knew}
"Ah! Nana! I-I don't even know what to so I.."
{She continued mutter slightly, I mean alot of her memories of Liliana were faint, only really remembering her face from photographs around the house, plus some stores from her moms}
"I missed you.."
*There was still something of the baby Faina once was in those chubby cheeks, and the squishiness of her adorable face.
Liliana smiled warmly too, exhibing a small tooth gap. Slightly yellow, a bit too big human teeth. They couldnt help but, by an horrible reflex, still search for signs on Faina's face. It was as if smilling had become, since the apocalypse, a way to say "I'm human ! Don't shoot !".
But Faina only had the most precious eyes, and cherished little teeth, and ears certainly clear and hands absolutly perfect. The earth became to cold for visitors, anyway. It was only Humans and their memories now.
And Liliana had so, so many memories. From helping Nadya during her pregnancy, then when giving birth, then with... Everything that came after. Sure, Faina had just been a baby that couldnt remember a thing. But from her early years, and the stories her parents surely told, the former-FEMA wasnt very afraid she had forgotten about them.*
- I missed you too, little one. Long time no see...
*It had been way too long. What even was she becoming, now ?*
- ... Are your parents around ? We send each other letters, but... I regret not visiting sooner. That's a good camera you got there, you're studiying photography ?
"They're still around, don't worry"
{She looks down at the camera in her hands}
"I mean..kinda, I saw mama using them for her job and I thought It'll be fun for me to explore and take photos and videos of my surroundings"
*"Nana" took a look at the camera, trying to hide the tears forming in their eyes. The nickname alone took them out. It was just so perfect. The last sound of Liliana. Not a granny nor a papy but something in between, and it felt like a badge of honor made just for them.
- Right ! I forgot she loved that... Guess you inherited that passion in your blood, heh. ... How is she ?
*The young woman with hair of reven and eyes like a haunted porcelain doll. So elegant with her furs and her natural class. So lost and fragile when they first met. But she was strong enough to survive and carry a child in the worst time Humanity knew, surely such a woman would be fine.
Liliana looked around, almost expecting the familiar face, or the usual big stature of Arseni by their side. Or Lasha. Oh, Lasha, so grown up now. They just got to the age Ilya was during those days. Thrity five.*
- Are you alone ?
*The streets werent so dangerous, now. Life was mostly... "normal". But after months, years of intense stress, Liliana couldnt believe a teenager would be left alone in a city by themselves. Even a city they knew by heart. Such a scaredy cat. They did way worse at her age. They just were growing older, and liked things a bit safer now.*
- I have time to loose and I know this city like the back of my own hand, if you want some compagny. Is there anything you would like to see ?
{She thinks for a moment}
"The lake is a good place..no one really comes there"
