I have this headcanon that when the founders were teaching at hogwarts they tested their house students all the time,  like godric created this horror house to find the bravest gryffindor, rowena made these super hard quizzes to see the smartest ravenclaw, salazar used games to look for the more cunning slytherin and helga had a cooking teams competition with hufflepuffs that all the other founders thought that was a ridiculous idea because who cares about the hufflepuff that can cook better? but what they didn’t understand is that helga was not trying to chose the best student she was trying to teach them that if you work hard and have team spirit you’ll have a good reward (in that case, delicious pies) and what most people don’t know is that the most part of the recipes in hogwarts’ feasts are the winners recipes from helga hufflepuff’s cooking competition
