Persepolis (2007)
nobody talks about how exhausting it is to live in that space between "things will get better" and "i can't handle this anymore." it's like your emotions are constantly swinging. leaving you both hopeful and defeated in the same day.
Who do you think the best angel was? This one.
Going from This:
To THIS:
Love how easily you can guess what's going on.
the "I have a brilliant idea and I'm so excited about it"
and the "that idea is terrible, I hate it, but I love you so I'm gonna go with it anyway"
there’s a local guy called the Sidewalk Astronomer who sets up outside the clubs downtown with a giant telescope and lets the drunk people walking by look at the stars. he’s my hero and he let me see the moon and Jupiter today

i genuinely don't think there's much, if anything, hotter than someone clearly having a blast doing something they're really good at. doesn't really matter what it is. the combo of competence and joy is absolutely lethal to me
everyday i mourn that my parents did not make me study five languages during my critical window of language acquisition (2 to 7 years)
“beautiful” from octet is a highly physical song. the narrator evokes online self-harm communities, immediately questioning the relationship of the online world to the physical, before describing her love for a fat woman she has met online, with whom she has never made physical contact due to the distance of their bodies from each other. she fantasizes about kissing the woman’s wrist, demonstrating on her own body; the body of this woman, in its absence, becomes her own body. she describes physical reactions to acts isolated from physicality (“how i tremble when she types out my name,” “[she] speaks to me in whispering emoji”), mirroring an earlier line from this character: “when we say in real life / this is a lie to protect us / it is all real / it is all real life.” the singer beats her chest as she sings, using the percussion of her body to emphasize her words. this is all, explicitly, tied to her relationship with body image; in kuhoo verma’s performance, she audibly struggles to describe the woman as “chunky;” except for her early assessment of her self-image, “fat” is never used, but in a song that seems to reside in the body, fatness is crucial. the woman tells the narrator that her body holds joy, light, a star, and god within it, and these are vast things. it’s not thematically insignificant that the character with such extensive ties to the physical world made apparent in her solo is written as a fat woman. with that in mind—rachel zegler?
“Let’s see who’s available- Hey, are you free?”
Tbh, I'm still baffled by how my old highschool can use a fully trademarked and incredibly well known character as a mascot
There’s about a 4” height difference between them, so Jack probably had to stand on his tippy toes to hug Robby like this.
It’s ok, Misha. Jack’s got you.
