people love to joke about "if you showed this to a cave man they'd die immediately" when really it's like if some 21st century millenial or zoomer caught even a glimpse of the ecstatic ritualistic visionary states they would work themselves into by tripping on mushrooms or datura, sitting in a drum circle, while watching the light and shadows from their communal fires dance on their masterfully painted cave wall while being guided by their spiritual leader/shaman/magician, they would never be able to talk about anything else and probably need to be institutionalized afterward
