i found it interesting how seamless it looked for yusuke to rip off his mask during his awakening, compared to joker who really struggled.

My response for that is probably because Yusuke doesn’t mask his feelings nearly as much as anyone else in the group, proven with how blunt he is, how openly emotional he can get at times, and always stating whatever thought happens across his mind no matter the situation. Therefore, removing a mask that’s barely there to begin with (which it really was, as only his denial to himself about Madarame’s actions was keeping him back; he was well aware of how bad his situation was) would be relatively simple. 

Joker, meanwhile, practically lives with a mask; always poker faced, always avoiding giving too many details on how he feels, etc. And it’s interesting that most times when he takes his mask off, symbolically and literally, he’s actually a really angry person (and understandably so). Unlike other characters, it’s a quiet fury that he feels is best to keep tempered down for the sake of everyone else. And yet, as hard as it is for him to let it out most the time, once its free and he sets his sights on you, you’re done for.

Makes you wonder what Akechi’s awakening was like. How much did he struggle? You see the facade he puts on. It must have been hard for him as well.

Especially with that one post going around speculating whether or not Akechi had to rip his whole helmet off as Black Mask, just the facial cover, or did he awaken with the Robin Hood mask?

Persona 5 The Royal - 20 New Songs, Reason Behind The Name && New Confidants Teased (SPOILERS)

The Reason Behind The Name ‘Royal’

The term “Royal” comes from the desire to create a polished, extravagant title.

Confidants

Kasumi adds to the perspectives and values in the story, and adds more depth to the existing characters. She has been implemented to naturally blend into the story. As you proceed in the game, you will see a different side of her from the teaser PV. She will develop through her Confidant story.

Maruki is a very kind, adult character.

If you were to ask whether there’ll be more new Confidants besides these two, between “YES” and “NO,” the answer is “YES.” Please wait for a follow-up.

Additions && Changes

It’s not only new elements that are being added. It will be made easier to earn a good amount of experience points so that the game can be played through more quickly.

Play Assist is a more advanced function than the Vox Populi mechanic [from Persona 4 Golden]. It will indicate a location while taking into account different parameters and the available Confidant characters, with the ability to move with one button.

The volume of the third semester will be more than expected for those who experienced the volume of P4G.

There are around 20 new BGM songs.

Other

If you have save data from P5, you will gain some kind of bonus. There is no carrying over.

There is a scene where the mysterious new character sleeps in the same bed with the protagonist (note: probably who we assume to be Morgana)

The interviewees are Daiki Ito (director), Kazuhisa Wada (producer), and Shigenori Soejima (character designer).

Weekly Famitsu magazine #1588—or the May 23, 2019 issue—will be released on May 9, 2019. Atlus also previously teased follow-up information on Persona 5 Royal for May 9th.

Persona 5 Royal will be released on The PS4 in Japan on October 31, 2019. It will be released in the West and Asia in 2020.
