“Well, I’ll make sure to tell you that our dates start 10 minutes earlier from now on then,” Dimitry said with a wink. He wasn’t sure where the thought had come from, but he figured the woman wouldn’t inherently mind the phrase. He popped another cherry into his mouth as she spoke. “Hey, the futon was a step up from the air mattress I had to start with,” he laughed before nodding. “But yes, I do have a ‘real’ bed now.” Part of him wondered why she asked, but he chose not to say anything about it as the waitress appeared.
Following Meg’s suggestion, Dimi also ordered a milkshake with cherry juice in it, however, his was chocolate flavored. “And, extra whipped cream, too, please!” he added at the last moment.
“Well, do you need any help getting it back?” Dimi asked. He had no idea how he could help, but figured he could offer either way. “And would you like to borrow mine for now? At least until you get yours back?” He offered her the jacket that he had sitting on the booth next to him with a small smile.
A large grin spread over his face as she asked to start the month of February over. “You know, I’d love to do that, but we didn’t know each other at the beginning of the month and I would hate to go back to that time.”
meg gave him a flirty smile and ate another cherry. “ that’s probably a good idea. then again, now that i know that, i’ll probably still be ten minutes late, “ she replied with a chuckle. she actually wasn’t opposed to the idea of this being a date, and having more of them in the future. she wondered about her future. could she possibly do this sort of thing on the regular - go out for dates and hang out with someone? would it even be safe? she didn’t want to think about that now, but it always plagued the back of her mind. it was what kept her walls up and what kept them strong. she didn’t want to see anyone get hurt because of something she did. she could handle it, but putting those she cared about in danger was something she’d never ever do.
“ well it’s good that you’re getting things in order. maybe if you’re lucky i’ll bring you a housewarming present, “ she chuckled slightly, eating another cherry. truthfully, she wouldn’t mind hanging out with him again. for the first time in a while, she felt like he didn’t care that she was in a gang, or what some people might call a “ troublemaker “ or “ dangerous. “ usually, when she traveled out of the outskirts of town, people gave her this look that plainly meant “ she’s not safe to be here. better keep an eye on her. “ she liked that dimitry didn’t look at her like that. she wasn't sure how she felt about the way he did look at her though.
she shook her head side to the side, a serious look on her face. “ oh gods no. i’m....” she hesitated for a moment. she didn’t know what say about the missing jacket. but she had to think of something. “ i’m working on it. anyway, i’m fine. a friend let me borrow theirs for now. i should probably just go to the store and get a brand new one, “ she chuckled softly, her mood lightening.
meg let out a soft giggle and felt an unfamiliar feeling creep up her neck. was she actually blushing? meg shook her head, trying to shake the pink color from her cheeks. meg creon didn’t blush - or at least, that’s what she thought anyway. “ i guess you have a point. well, at least we can have one last day of national cherry month to celebrate, “ she said with a grin.
