thor turned to face his companion with a raised brow, “you truly have been off of asgard for many years to think that that pile of shit is bigger than a nidhoggr’s.” he sighed, shaking his head as he placed a hand onto his hip. “really valkyrie, how could you forget about that creature.” truthfully, it was a mighty beast - with the body of a dragon and the head of a bull moose, teeth of a dragon, the creature was magnificent. it could breathe fire and destroy a town with the wink of an eye. “do you think a nidhoggr is here?”

“i said it was big, i never said it was larger than a nidhoggr – i hadn’t realized that was the standard you hold piles of shit to.” she rebutted, looking to him skeptically. there was amusement in her tone, regardless, at the ridiculousness of the situation they’d gotten into. her eyes rolled while a hand placed on her hip. “i didn’t forget it and i certainly hope there isn’t one here. they certainly aren’t something i’d care to fight anytime soon. have you ever actually seen one up close?” she questioned as she turned her attention back to the pile. “regardless, this particular shit is blocking our path.”

Sooraya reassembled herself into her human form, all of a sudden - hoping she did not startle those around her, but too exhausted to truly care. The rains seemed to have gone on forever.  “Please, could you help me find water?”

valkyrie had been searching through the lands, both for food and anything that would be of use while they repaired the damages to the shelters. hearing the voice of another, she turned to face the woman with a respectful nod. “of course,” she started. everyone had arrived here in different places, and though the asgardian didn’t know her personally, water was important and she wouldn’t leave her to search for it. “there’s a lake of fresh water this way, from what i’ve heard, the acid rains didn’t contaminate it. feel free to follow me.” she gestured, moving to head in the direction of the lake. “my name is brunnhilde, but most people call me valkyrie.”

carol had seen many things in her life,  before and after thanos and galactus, and little to none really surprised her, but dinosaurs? couldn’t say she had  —  until right now. unsure how she’d ended up in this place, after a few days of wandering by herself, the blonde finally decided to let her pride aside for one second and find shelter, thankful that the rain had stopped.  “ you know, i’d say i’m doing peachy, but i just hit a dinosaur so hard, i’m pretty sure i pulled something on my arm … make that plural. ”  she scoffed, shaking her head as she sat down on the ground, not even fully looking at the person that was just a few feet away from her.  “ i’m really not diggin’ this whole prehistoric getaway, ” the blonde went on, as she applied pressure on her wrist and back up on her forearm.  “ are we really supposed to punch our way out of this place? or time period? or whatever this is? ”

it felt as though every day they were finding more people here, facing new challenges. as she came across the other woman, recognizing her from the battlefield, she gave an appreciative nod. “plural as in you’ve punched multiple dinosaurs or pulled multiple ligaments. all would be understandable given the circumstance.” she mused, sheathing the sword away and offering a canister of water to carol. “lake water, but boiled and decontaminated.” she explained before moving her gaze to search around their surroundings. “i don’t believe anyone is particularly fond of this place right now, perhaps aside from thor. i believe he’s trying to adopt more dinosaurs than he fights.” her lips pulled in a grin, a small attempt tp lighten the mood. “truthfully, i don’t believe anyone knows where we are. the past, maybe – another reality? pocket dimension? another planet – though admittedly not one i’ve ever heard of and i’ve seen plenty.”

he had a hand on his chin, looking at the steel door after the woman revealed it might be reinforced steel. he gently touched the steel door and knocked, confirming her suspicions after no hollow sound came out. “you’re right, it’s reinforced steel. there might be fiberglass in there too.” punching the door would’ve not only be loud, it would’ve triggered quite a few alarms because of the fiberglass. he did a once-over of the room they were currently in, spotting a vent in the far right corner. “give me five minutes. i’ll look for the safest room and route from here.” and with that, he had stretched out his head and  went inside the air vent, navigating his way through the labyrinth before finally figuring out their safe route and coming back to the room. “the weapons room is two doors down and empty enough for us to strategise but it’s being guarded by dinosaurs. think you’re up to get into a fight with the dinosaurs today?”

valkyrie offered a nod in agreement of his plan, stepping away from the steel door to watch as his neck stretched out and to the vent in mild fascination. she’d known of his abilities, but to see them in use was intriguing – if not a little odd. truthfully, she strained herself not reach out and touch like an overly curious child. as he returned, her brow quirked. “i suppose you’re very fortunate to never have to suffer from a stiff neck. do your bones detach and reattach or are they like rubber as well?” she had a large variety of odd questions to ask, but refocused herself on the matter at hand, offering a nod. “a weapons room would be ideal.” she admitted, her hand gripping her sword in response. “i’m always up for a bit of a fight, regardless of the beast. are you? and if they bite you, does it make you essentially chewing gum?”

mj wasn’t quite sure what they were staring at, but all she could focus on was the size of it’s teeth. mary jane wasn’t quite sure if valkyrie’s sword could to much damange, but she was glad she had it. “that does actually make me feel a bit better. nidhoggrs, huh? i do have a bit of a hard time believing there’s something bigger than this, but i’ll take your word for it.” taking a step back, she turned towards valkyrie. “should we uh go?”

“they are truly a mighty and dreadful beast, i believe your people would liken them to dragons. not something you’d like to cross paths with, except for thor. i’m convinced he’d like one as a pet.” going on about the nidhoggr seemed a worthy distraction from what was currently ahead of them. she weighed the pros and cons of taking on this dinosaur – and convinced she likely could, but it didn’t seem worth it to put anyone in any unnecessary risk. “i believe that would be a wise decision. if we move away slowly, we can likely remain undetected.”

“i wouldn’t call this shocking.” riri responded, referring to the iron helmet and hand she had on. since they were the only piece of her suit that were working at the moment, it’s all she was able to fight with. holding out her hand she sent a blast at one of the dinosaurs that were coming her way. “yeah, we can’t exactly talk it out though can we?” valkyrie was extremely impressive. she definitely wasn’t able to keep up with her but followed along anyway.

“you sell yourself too short.” valkyrie commented, looking over the younger woman’s armor. “how shocking something is, is measured by what one is already accustomed to.” she explained further as she moved further and keeping an eye out for more dinosaurs. “some things that an asgardian such as myself find normal, would be rather shocking to you. just as suits of iron that you and others wear could have been shocking to asgardians.” maybe it wasn’t the most important point to make given the situation they were in, but it was a good distraction from possible death around the corner.

“–admittedly, i am usually rather good at that.” valkyrie shrugged honestly, taking a glance to the other man as she debated the options. she only knew reed from what she’d heard of others, but that was enough for her to believe him a good man and leader. “but this seems to be reinforced steel. hitting it is likely to be loud and bring us some unwanted attention from our dinosaur friends.” she explained further. “do you see any points you may be able to... you know, squeeze through? unless, of course, you’re feeling up to fighting some of the beasts that could be lurking?”

“i never thought i’d say this, but dinosaurs are cancelled.” | @highestfastestfurthest

“if only it were so simple.” valkyrie, in her short time on midgard, had picked up on at least some of the common slang – enough to understand the meaning of theoretically cancelling something. “normally i would take pity on any creature just trying to escape the same acidic rain we are, but these remind me of bilge snipe – i fear they’ll trample and only leave destruction in their paths.” the sound of dinosaurs ripping through the halls only confirmed her sentiment. she turned to the other woman, lips turned in an amused grin. “it would be rude if i didn’t offer you to go first.”

“it cannot possibly be that ba–” her voice cut off as she turned to face the poorly named dinosaur in question, her head tilting back to look upward and acquire a better view. “admittedly, it does possess a great amount of teeth.” she agreed, slowly taking a few steps backwards and drawing out her sword in case she needed to take the offensive. “if it helps, it is not the largest beast i have faced. if you’d like to hear of a creature truly massive, ask thor about the nidhoggrs.”

“are you saying that you do not?” valkyrie called back out in response, her body moving in a flip backwards to avoid the swinging of a heavy dinosaur tail, the spikes at the end looking particularly dangerous. “these beasts – i believe they are just frightened from the acid rain, but that does not make them less dangerous. they could trample anyone too easily.” the next time the tail swung, valkyrie grabbed onto it, the heels of her feet digging into the ground as she used it to swing the large dinasaur in a circle and throw it into a near wall. “careful, he’s a heavy bastard.”

“it’s literally raining acid, what else could possibly go wrong?” | @ofwakandan

“i believe you have something of a saying here on midgard that as soon as you claim such a thing, it undoubtedly gets worse.” she pointed out, her lips quirking in a smile. “though the notion is fairly universal.” her attention shift, her hands smoothed over aragorn, the pegasus she’d needed to bring inside the compound for the time being. he was normally so well mannered, but he could barely expand his wings here – it was still better than leaving him to the acid rain. “shall we take bets as to what annoyingly awful thing will arise next? perhaps the acid rain will cause an acid flood.”

“if we’re lucky, they won’t eat humans.” matt had a feeling he was talking to another asgardian but she was definitely different from the three chaotic siblings. it was a wonder how this woman was able to deal with the three others if his deduction was right. “hmm. not exactly a fan of lizard meat.” while he’s not trying to be picky about his food, he’d rather be on the side of caution when it came to dinosaur meat. after all, they were supposed to be extinct. who knows what kind of trouble they’d give his health when he did go on and eat some? “feel free to eat them on my behalf.”

“sure they will. there are many carnivores, and we are made of meat. of course, so are many other dinosaurs. if we stay out of their path, they will find whatever pray is easiest to them.” the laws of nature, predator and prey, she presumed was the same in any realm. she hummed in thought a moment, a shrug on her shoulders. valkyrie was never one to overthink what she ate – food was food. “how do you know? have you ever tried it?” her lips curved into a near grin, a hint of playfulness in her tone. “how about i will try it first and let you know of it’s safety and taste? you may call me valkyrie, by the way.”

“this can’t possibly be a new form of hel. it’s not dark enough for her, don’t you think? her style is more… black and dark green. besides, would you not go to valhalla? you’re a valkyrie, afterall.” loki shrugged his shoulders. “nobody can be sure whether we’re alive or dead. if this is just some dream. or if it really is hel. but if it isn’t either of those two things – we also have no idea if the earth is still  there. for all we know, he could’ve already ate it.”

“it certainly has plenty of green.” she gestured to the trees, a shrug on her shoulders. “perhaps the old hel wouldn’t take her back, overthrown by her own realm. it’d give me a laugh, at least.” she mused. “as for valhalla, it was rooted in asgard.  with asgard destroyed, i’m actually unsure of what would happen now. i suppose i’ll find out when i die.” it was a more discomforting thought than she’d let on with nonchalance in her tone. “and if this galactus already ate the earth, were we sent here for our own protection, and by whom? or did galactus send us here to stay out of his way while he enjoyed his meal? there are a lot of questions, and i’m not sure where to start in finding the answers.”

Bobbi tapped the end of her staves together, a loud buzzing noise echoed with the sight of electricity twitching between the ends.  “Pack more of a punch then a taser, but I doubt they’ll be much use bringing down a several ton giant.” She thought about it for a moment, the laser add on might be more useful, but even then, it would probably just agitate the damn thing.  She needed time to tinker, but without electricity   Most of her new modifications would be crude at best.  “I’m sure an Asgardian blade is probably more useful in this situation.” She added with a nod, at the next mention of her pegasus she couldn’t help but look a bit impressed.  “Perhaps, there is more to this place then what meets the eye.” She explained biting into her lower lip.  “Maybe we aren’t as far from home as Galactus wants us to believe.”

“all weapons certainly have their uses.” valkyrie commented, looking to the electrified staves the other woman held. anything could be a weapon, she knew, but she held a certain appreciation for some more than others and a respect for those that could wield them. she looked down to her own blade, turning it with ease in her hand. “i’ve taken down many beasts with dragonfang, admittedly it is my preference of weapons, but I am rather intrigued by the ones midgard has come up with over the years.” it was easy for her to forget they were still in a land surrounded by dinosaurs when she was able to discuss weapons. she gave a brief nod, contemplating their options. “perhaps galactus did devour the planet and this is what it is like inside of him. but the more likely option, something sent us here for a reason.” it was a perplexing situation, but she considered nothing outside the realm of possibility. “whether that reason be to protect or destroy us is yet to be seen.”

for a brief moment, valkyrie considered throwing her blade at the other woman – just because it might feel good to do again. yet, she opted not to, it would be more of a hassle for both of them. “yes, your cheers from the sidelines were of great help.” she looked to hela with a pointed gaze, “no point in lying about it, the only person you root for is yourself.” of course, hela didn’t need to say their names for valkyrie to know who she was speaking of. the descriptions were admittedly accurate. “around somewhere, from what i understand but unfortunately, you’re the first i’ve come across. do you intend to leave thor’s other eye in place this time?”

“are you so sure about that?” valkyrie paused, turning on her heel to face loki. for a moment, she feigned seriousness, but the shake of her head and mildly too-dramatic eye roll spoke otherwise. “you do tend to die often enough, how can you be sure that we didn’t all perish on midgard at the hands of the thing that ate uranus and this is a new form of hel?” she over questioned, if only to give loki a hard time. “though we should hope not, as then we’d be stuck with each other for an eternity.”
