I feel like the Project Hail Mary fandom either ignores or forgets that Grace wasn't meant to be alone up there. He's not been 'shot alone into space'.

As far as earth knows, There are three people up there, working on the problem together, keeping eachother from going insane. They don't learn differently until the beetles arrive.

rocky always yells “enrichment for grace! enrichment for grace!” when he has a new invention to make the humans time more interesting on erid. grace, while appreciative, replies ‘I know I’m in a zoo enclosure but could we maybe not call it that? I feel like a bear getting thrown a pumpkin covered in peanut butter.’ rocky simply gives him a thumb, not wanting to explain that a significant amount of the population sees grace as the celebrity savior scientist who rocky keeps as a controversially young trophy wife and publicly lavishes in gifts

rocky, adrian, and grace work together to make grace a 'carapace'. they say his skin is too sound absorbing to give him a well defined shape, so they work on an outfit that's pretty much skin tight and lined with plates that he he can wear under his usual clothes and still move around in. he wears it for classes (so he doesn't scare the pebbles) and when going out of the dome (to thrums, or just out with rocky). it has the added side effect of clinking a little when he's walking, the same way eridian claws do when they walk!

I’ve started doing this at work and I have to fight every time I open my mouth not to add “statement” or “question”. I fear the general populace in my small town would look at me like I’ve lost my mind

What if human astronauts visit Erid one day and are doing diplomatic things and whatnot and they learn Ryland Grace is sstill alive and is in a terrarium. One of the astronauts jokingly says “you’re not experimenting on him are you” and the Eridians freeze cause yeah, they totally are. They experiment on him all the time. They’re experimenting on him right now in fact. They read about deep sea diving and are now testing the effects of replacing certain gases in Graces atmosphere. Right now they’re testing helium.

They send someone to stop the experiment but Grace refuses cause they’re so far in already and well that would just ruin the data.

The new humans think this is hilarious and insist on joining the experiment as Grace excitedly yaps about all the cool stuff he’s learned about aliens but he’s still got that high pitched helium voice.

Do you think Grace ever picked up on Rocky's speech patterns... After spending so much time with him, he starts going “Rocky did important task, question?” unconsciously, I think he'd even begin to imitate the pitch of his little sounds

We always talk about how Stratt is haunted by Grace's screams and cries at night, but what about Carl?

Carl, the guy Grace built an entire hypothesis around.

Carl, the guy that learned to have fun with Grace while doing science.

Carl, the guy that fueled Grace's addiction to Skittles and Twizzlers.

Carl, the guy that was there every step of the way until the end. And then he was forced to stand by and watch as Grace was pinned to the ground, pleading for help, calling for him of all people.

I'm willing to bet Carl is kept awake just as much as Stratt was if not more so, utterly tortured by what he'd done to Grace.
