remember when us soccer changed their “you make me see” commercial and promo videos to exclude all the clips of hope almost immediately after her career was ended. and remember how us soccer effectively ignored everything about her for nearly two years without properly honoring her for her 200 caps. remember how they tried to erase her. remember how jill told hope on the plane ride back from Rio that her comments were no big deal and they’d need her in goal for 2019, then jill, the players, and the entire organization turned their backs on hope when the stories broke and never looked back. remember how the entire team involved in the class action lawsuit decided to say no when hope asked to be part of mediation talks and nearly the entire woso media community have contributed towards removing hope from the equal pay conversation despite the fact that she spearheaded the movement in 2016, despite the fact that she has been fighting for equal treatment for her teammates for the majority of her NT career. despite the fact that she has been exposing the truths about how ussf operates and treats it’s players for years. remember that us soccer said you cannot be an athlete and also be flawed and continue to play on this team to one person and one person only in the history of the NT. remember how they treated her. and only her. remember the 20 years hope has given of her life for this game and all the ways she has strived to lift up the women’s game around the world and then remember that hope solo’s name will remain in football history for generations to come despite the years of effort made to bury her. they tried to erase her. so many narratives have tried to erase who she really is. but they never will.
