hello!! Iâve updated my commission information. my hours are getting reduced since the holiday season is ending, so Iâm going to have to rely more on these again! pls consider helping out, im a trans autistic system living on my own, anything helps!!
(someone is currently rlly anxious, and I canât muster up the spoons to write out the alt text rn, im sorry :( if anyone wants to do so thatâs ok by me)
hello, Iâve only been scheduled to work two days this week, meaning Iâll only make around $90, and Iâm about to pay rent and lose most of the funds I made this month. please consider commissioning me!! anything helps!
pls also consider sharing!!
WHY IS DRAWING HANDS SO FUCKING HARD
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
you just gotta figure out how to do the mitten thing! (everybody does it differently, so whatever works for you)
make a little mitten shape, a bump for the big thumb muscle, a line for where you want to knuckles to be (and where the fingers end), and you can work out how the hand does hand things~
you can make them more simple or more real, however you want! hands are weird, so donât worry if they keep looking wrong for a while, once you figure out what works for you, itâll click. If you practice like 10 or-so basic hand shapes, you can make slight variations on all those, and 10 turns into 20 different hand poses~
Good luck, you can do it, practice until you find your groove, hands are stupid, donât worry if they donât look right!
you are a fucking saint x2
I havenât got a single speck of artistic skill in me but I will reblog for any artist that might find this useful
addicted to this fucking shape
feeling this one rn
I spent hours staring at gold bars stock photos while making this and now my head hurts
i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors
âred and green are opposites đ„°â cool now how do i paint a tree with pinks and blues without it looking like a childâs finger painting or incongruous blobs of rainbow vomit
ok i canât explain it very well but im looking for tips and techniques for rendering art like
with specifically the highlights and colors being hues that compliment each other, donât distract from the scene, and make it more interesting/visually appealing
is it too much to ask
gonna drop some sources I have saved on Pinterest! I don't know if these all link back to the original sources so apologies for that
cohesive but still contrasting
This kind of talks about color and composition
This is a bit about landscape specifically
Values & composition
Contrast in composition
Balance in colors & values
This one's more for palette building but I think it's useful and can be applied to the other ones
Cohesion within compositions/lighting
"Chromatic fringe" - I also see people using this with shading, they bring in a transition color that is a different hue than the base color or shadow, it makes it so that less vibrancy is lost and it doesn't get muddy!
This one specifically has a lot of process behind the style of painting you're looking for!
Also one of my favorite artists who makes bright and colorful art like this is Not Sorry Art on TikTok & YouTube, her website is here and it's<3 my fav. She has some videos where you can see her process
With the oranges painting you put as an example, I noticed they painted the lighter values more toward yellow - they also exaggerated the hues of the undertones of the photo, so I'm guessing they either did it in their head or bumped the saturation up to get a closer look! I really love these paintings you shared and I definitely share your desire to paint/draw like that :)
thanks this is super helpful! /gen
take it.
THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOADABLE PDF OF THE BOOK BTW you donât have to pay for it!!
since the link about is fucking dead, i took the liberty to provide a better one. Youâll need to copy and paste the passphrase, though >> kitten-mutual-refinance
Comic Pages Storyboard Tutorial
OKAY SO! @biazerod asked me a little help on storyboarding and i decided to make this tutorialâŠiâm not a professionist. so donât take these as golden rulesâŠjust advices!  and as always sorry for the english FIRST THING FIRST! the storyboard part is the most important phase in a comic page ! you can spend an entire day storyboarding! because itâs the structure, the essence of the page! hereâs some tips : 1- a page can start from 1 panel/frame (called splash page!) until how many f*cking panels you can fit ! (some pages , especially in french comics/bd  can reach 24 panels/frames!) Exaple of splash pages:Â
(these are from the green lantern,DC and the newest Thor ,marvel ) Splash pages are a priority of American comics, you rarely can find them in french Bd ! they represent a scene of impact! a fight! a revelation! be careful! use it only one if two times on a range of 50 pages! cuz it cut the narration! instead in french bd  you find this :
first one is from Blacksad 2# and second one is from Atar Gull see how high the number of the frames is?? the number of frames is very important in a page because it decide the narration time! :D also it all depends on the kind of ââdirectionââ you want to use on your comic! so be really careful when you decide the number of the frame! LETâS PASS ON THE CREATION! 1- when you have a page that contains more than 3 Frames ALWAYS. ALWAYS HAVE AN ESTABLISHING SHOT!Â
the establishing shot is fundamental! BECAUSE READERS CAN UNDERSTAND WHERE THE CHARACTERS ARE! DONâT DO A COMIC PAGE FULL OF FACES !Â
DONâT DO THIS! LET THE CHARACTER BREATH! LET THE READER BREATH! PLAY WITH YOUR CAMERA! YOU HAVE THE POWER! in a comic page, is important to put the camera far away from the character most of the time! play with the different shots! Â
(found this on google) WATCH MOVIES AND TV SHOWS. lot of them can help you so much you have no idea!  a comic artist and a director do the same job when creating a story 2- Candy eye this is a tricky trick that can help you with the audience! when a character is saying something important or you have to introduce them , USE THE CANDY EYE DUDE.Â
the candy eye is , basically, a bust shot where you show the character, their features , usually with a cool or a funny expression ( or of course it depends from the situation) and believe me WORKS 10/10 with the audience ;)Â 3- HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANT SCENE IN THE PAGE!Â
FINAL TIPS: - when youâre doing dinamic poses try and try again! the first one isnât always the best! -USE REFERENCES. -A STORYBOARD PAGE CAN REQUIRE EVEN 4 HRS IF NOT AN ENTIRE DAY IF NOT AN ENTIRE WEEK. REMEMBER THAT THE STORYBOARD IS THE ESSENCE. AND THE REST IS DECORATION. - IMAGINE THE SEQUENCE! NOT THE SINGLE PAGES. THINK IN SEQUENCES! imagine what would happen after the page you are creating! connect the various pages NOT THE SINGLES FRAMES ! YOUâRE CREATING A STORY! NOT A SINGLE ILLUSTRATION! -AGAIN DONâT DO PAGE OF FACES. most important thing:Â
if the page youâre creating it stresses you! STOP. continue it when you are in a better mood ,dude. our job requires lot of time and effort, but it should be the job we love. so donât stress yourself and keep calm. hope this is useful. donât take this as golden rules, this is just the way i work :)
Very very quick and dirty fur tutorial I made for a friend that may be helpful to someone
