How did the cast and crew commemorate Maggie Smith’s last scene? “She was so respected by all of the directors and crew and the other actors,” said Neame. "So I made a little speech about how it has been a privilege for all of us, that none of us will ever forget the work that we’ve seen her do. And of course she hates all that kind of flattering. So she was saying, ‘Oh don’t!’ And she was sort of burying her head in her hands saying, ‘Oh don’t go on about that!’ But it was true. I mean, it’s a real privilege to work on a TV show with her all that time.” (x)
