“Yeah it seems that way,” though he figured most of the professors at the college were in the same boat. He knew some of them liked to act like they had their lives together and their papers graded, but Johnny liked to deem himself smarter than that. By the end of the year, things got on top of the professors and they just couldn’t keep up. Johnny chuckled, “I don’t want to see what kind of trouble those kids would get into if I let biology be a free pass. The science professors would come for me,” he shook his head, though a smile grew on his face as the mention of Naomi came up. “She’s doing great, it’s amazing how fast they grow, huh?”

“One day we’ll get the hang of things.” Oliver smirked at him and took a deep breath. He was sure that at one point things were all going to come naturally to them like it did the kids, right? “True. Yours is definitely harder to slide by than mine is. Though, I guess mine could get in some trouble too if they try to go on.” He laughed softly. “It really is. It had been a while since I saw them and now it’s like they’ve shot up like weeds. How’s Stevie? How’s things going?”

“This is very true. I’m a little rusty in that department, though.” Patrick admitted. Other than taking roles in some of the productions put on by his sister’s academy Patrick didn’t do much acting these days, as much as he missed it. His green eyes lit up with enthusiasm and he nodded. “Right? She was perfect. Although I hate that they killed off Belladonna.” Despite the bad experiences he had working on Broadway, working on Mama Mia had definitely been one of his fonder memories. Probably because his sister and Oliver had been there, which made him feel more at home. For a second he thought he caught the other man’s disappoint. “Yeah. Even though Liv thinks we’re practically married now or something.” he let out a somewhat bashful laugh. “I think she’s just jealous of me hanging out with her friends.” he added before looking up at him. “Great. It’ll be fun. What about this Friday, say six? Actually, better make it six-thirty. You know how long it takes me to pick out the perfect outfit.” he admitted.

“Well, I can help with that. Any time.” Oliver offered to him with a smile before he touched his chest above his heart and nodded. “Ugh, I know. I bawled like a baby at the end of that movie. I don’t think I’ve watched it again since, if I’m honest.” He told him and took a deep breath as the other talked about Liv. “I know. I’m glad she has Enzo. I was worried for a little bit, but he seems to be a great guy.” The man grinned and waved him off. “Please. You’re my friend, too. Right?” He wondered curiously. “Yeah. Friday at six-thirty sounds perfect. Should I pick you up or meet there?”

Task #003 - House Tour

Oliver lives in one of the homes in Old Lymemouth. After first getting it, he fixed up the outside and has slowly started doing things inside. The house has two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, kitchen, small dining area, and a small backyard.

Sometimes Tara was certain her colleagues at the news station thought she lived there. And while she did sleep in her office on a perhaps concerningly frequent basis, the woman did technically have a life outside work. Although Bridgeport was merely a pit stop until her next step up in the news world, she did have to at least try and enjoy the time here. Or so her dad kept insisting every time they had a phone call. So, in an attempt to do just that the producer had come out to downtown to do a little exploring. She’d found herself inside the Sea Shanty not expecting much of it but the selection was surprisingly decent. Tara was in the middle of examining a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers vinyl when a voice caught her attention. “Hmm? Oh, good to know it holds up.” He looked vaguely familiar but not in a way she could place.

"It really does. I think most records too. Better than tapes or CDs every did. With everything streaming, though, it's a surprise how records have suddenly come back." He said as he continued looking. "Sorry if I'm talking your ear off. I tend to ramble sometimes about things." He paused for a moment. "I'm Oliver, by the way. Oliver Harwood."

In response to Oliver’s words, Liv smiled at him. “Thank you, Oliver. I know you’re just looking out for me and I appreciate that,” He was a great friend and Liv knew he would always be in her corner. “I won’t lie to you, I am a little nervous about everything and for letting myself fall this hard for someone, but there’s just something different about him.” Enzo treated her like she deserved to be treated. “Yeah, Maggie’s met him. I think Maggie would bite his head off before anyone,” she laughed. Listening to Oliver, Liv raised a brow at him again, trying to decide if she was going to say something. “What about Patty? I heard the two of you spent some time together recently,” she commented, curious to see what Oliver had to say about that.

"Of course. Anything for you." He said and listened to her, smiling a little. "I hope he is different. You deserve the world and I want to make sure you're getting it." A little chuckle escaped his lips as she talked about her sister. "That's true. Let her know if she needs help, I'm there." At the mention of Patrick, his eyes widened and he started getting flustered. "What? I mean... yeah. I, uh, helped him after his accident and we're gonna have dinner. A friend dinner soon." He shrugged. "That's all."

“Eh, probably just about as a washed up retired army soldier can,” he teased Oliver back in response to what he said. Sure, there was probably plenty he might be qualified for from being in the army, but there wasn’t anything that Johnny was sure that he wanted to do. Honestly, teaching had been the easy way to go and it allowed him to be close to his family once more. “I’ve got about stack and a half, remind me not to make my final exam quite so long.”

He laughed softly. "Seems we're in the same boat then, huh?" He took a bite of his food and listened to him. "You do the same to me. Maybe we should just be those teachers that are basically a free pass to kids. Though, I think I am already." Oliver shook his head. "How's everything else, though? I saw the baby the other day. I swear she's bigger every time I do."

“You certainly have an eye for detail. You could probably be a designer, too. But then I wouldn’t get to see you on tv.” Patrick smiled, his face darkening a little when he thought about how he had made a recent habit of tuning into the local news just to see Oliver and hear his voice. “She’s never known how to take a compliment.” he sighed. “I mean the second one is so underrated. Sometimes I put the movies on just to sing along to the songs when I’m doing something boring.” he admitted with a chuckle. “Plus, the dads are total DILF’s, am I right?” he grinned before giving a small sigh. “I just hope Jewel and I weren’t too much trouble.” he said looking up at the man. “And, um.. it means a lot to me that you didn’t tell Liv. Or my mom, for that matter. Although she knows, now.” he said thinking back to their conversation. His heart fluttered a little when Oliver asked if it was a date. He almost asked him if he was okay with that but then he corrected himself. “Yeah. A dinner date. Like a friend date.” He said with a nervous laugh. “No, I insist. I’d like to do something. It would be fun to get out for the night, right? I know I could use some social interaction after having to stay in bed for so long. It doesn’t have to be tonight,” he added. Patrick would want time to prepare and choose the perfect outfit which would take at least an hour. Even though this wasn’t a date. “So, what days are you free from being the town heat throb?” he teased, realizing only afterwards that his comment was bordering flirting.

He smirked at him. "I don't know about TV, but an actor does have to pay attention to detail, right? It's what I teach my students, at least. Attention to the details of a character." He smirked as the man before him talked about the movies and nodded. "I know. Plus, how can you say no to Cher?" Oliver shook his head. "Oh, you are definitely right." He waved him off again and smiled. "Please you could never be trouble. And of course, but I am glad she knows. I know how you're family is." Hearing the other clarify what the dinner was, his face fell a little and nodded. "Just friends. Exactly." He kinda hated it, but put back on his smile. "That all sounds perfect. Any day you want is fine. Just let me know."

The end of the semester was coming to an end and it had Johnny more than looking forward to the summer. He would get to spend adequate time with his children, see Stevie and even help out at the cafe from time to time when she needed help. The blonde was hoping to make up for lost time. He had spent far too long gone and needed to make amends with his life in Bridgeport. As Johnny gave up on another stack of papers, he headed down to the cafeteria for a bite to eat and more importantly, a caffeine kick. Sitting down at one of the tables, he scrolled mindlessly through his phone until he heard a voice approach him. “Oh yes,” he chuckled, knowing all the professors were at their wits ends with grading. “no one told me how much grading this job would actually be.”

He laughed softly and nodded as he opened his coffee cup and put some sugar in there. “You and me both. If I had more skills, I may try something else, but not sure what else a washed up Broadway star can do.” He said with a laugh still in his voice as he stirred his coffee and put the lid back on. “How much more do you have to do? I have a whole stack still on my desk.”

Patrick was truly moved by the man’s thoughtful gesture as he set the box down to open it. “This is amazing! You know me so well. I mean, I’m constantly needing new socks, and you know how I love chocolate.” he picked up one of the movies. ‘And you got me Mama Mia! This is perfect because Netflix keeps taking it down. Although, I think you and Liv were the best Sophie and Sky there ever was.” he laughed before he pulled the man in for a hug. “Thank you. You really didn’t have to do all of this.” It meant a lot that he did, of course. His heart sank when he said that no one was there when something similar had happened to him. “I’m sorry, Oliver. I wish I could have been.” he sighed knowing that it had taken place after he left New York for his own reasons. “Let me make it up to you somehow.” he said. “Please. I owe you for all you’ve done for me. I would offer to cook for you, but I’m honestly terrible. Even before I broke my wrist. But I could take you out for a meal, and maybe we could do something fun. I know you work so hard and could use a break.” he said, trying not to make it sound too much like a date.

He grinned as the other as he opened the box and nodded. “I like to think I pay attention to things.” Oliver said before laughing softly. “Thanks. I’m sure she may say otherwise, but I appreciate it. It’s a two pack with the first and second one. Can’t have a proper watch without both, right?” He asked before waving him off. “Please, it’s nothing. I just want you relaxing a little more, you know?” He said and smiled at him before he apologized. “It’s alright. No need to worry about it at all. I’m okay and so are you and that’s what matters.” The man continued listening to him and his heart jumped a little at the offer of being taken out. “Like a date?” He asked with his heart racing a little. “I mean, um, a dinner date? Or um...” He blushed a little. “You really don’t owe me anything.”

“I guess you do, don’t you? I’m sorry, I’ve been so busy.” The boys were finishing up school in a couple weeks, and the dance studio had spring recitals. She was all over the place. “The whole thing is kind of a whirlwind, but when you know you know I guess. I’ve just…never felt this way about anyone before, does that make sense?” Liv asked, blush on her cheeks. Hearing Oliver request a double date, Liv raised a brow at him. “Oh? Tell me more about that because I’m definitely interested.”

He looked at her and sighed. “Fine. I guess you’re forgiven.” He said and laughed a little. “I know. And I’m happy for you.” He paused and sighed. “I just wanna make sure you okay and sure about all this. It’s not just pregnancy hormones or whatever, right? He’s actually a good guy? Has Maggie met him? I can trust her judgement. Between her and I, we won’t be letting just anything happen to you.” Plus, he held some guilt for not helping his best friend out of the relationship she was in before and he wasn’t going to make that mistake again. “There’s nothing to tell. I was just saying we could. I could find a date or something.” He shrugged. He didn’t have anyone specific in mind, even if he couldn’t stop thinking about Liv’s brother.

Patrick could hardly pretend he wasn’t excited to see Oliver show up at his door. He had been on his mind a lot ever since he had helped him the night of the accident and had taken care of him for a few days. He had to admit, it was nice to have someone care about him, other than his parents. He hadn’t had that in a long time since his last relationship which made him think about things. His mother had been pressuring him to date again but he wasn’t sure if Oliver was the right person. However, he had spent a few days contemplating texting him and maybe doing something nice since he had been so kind to him, letting him and his dog Jewel stay. And not to mention, he didn’t tell his parents what happened and seemed to understand why that would be difficult for Patrick. His face it up when he answered the door and he let the man into his place. “Oh, wow. You got me a gift? Oli, you are too sweet. I’m the one who should be getting something for you. You’ve already done so much.”

He shrugged and smiled at him. “Please, its nothing. I figured you needed a little care package while you’re still getting better. Besides, it was my pleasure to help out. I had to be alone during my recovery and I’m glad you didn’t have to go through that.” Oliver kept smiling and handed him the basket. “It’s just some sweets and comfort things. Got you some socks and movies I thought you’d like.”

“You know, I have to meet this Enzo guy eventually, right?” Oliver said as he put out the plate of cupcakes and looked at his best friend. “First, you guys are casual, then he knocks you up, and now you’re living together? I haven’t even put my stamp of approval on him.” He pouted a little, but was still smiling. “Plus, with those pictures you’ve shown me, I wanna good look at him. Just for reference.” He teased as he sat down. “So, this is me officially requesting a dinner. Maybe a double date.”

With the school year coming to an end, there wasn’t much to do other than grading and posting final grades and Oliver was getting tired of it. He decided to take a break and head out to the cafeteria to get some food and coffee. After ordering, he went through the tables and smiled as he saw Johnny and sat down by him. “You done with this whole grading thing too?” He asked with a grin as he sipped his coffee.

Oliver was looking for a record to bring to his classes once the summer classes started so he could start them off right. Actually, it was a record of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He wanted to start his lessons there and while he could do it on Spotify or even a CD, but he felt the record would be better. However, once he got in the record shop, he started getting distracted by other things and he stopped to see what someone else was looking at. “Oh, that’s amazing on vinyl. I have it and I usually play it at least once a week.”

After a few days from the accident and having Patrick stay with him, Oliver hadn’t really talked to him and he thought it was best to maybe go see him. So, the man made a little care package and headed to the other’s apartment. He got in as someone was leaving and smiled as he took the basket of sweets and comfort things up to Patrick’s door and knocked. He waited a few seconds before the door opened and he smiled. “Hey! I came to check in on you. And I brought you a gift.”

Dane had bought a cat. It was his proudest moment of the year so far, which meant that although his career was flying, his social life was pretty non existent. He had no one but himself to blame as he was always tucked away in his office, his classroom or the local library. But with the summer months coming it meant he had more free time and as much as he loved taking the summer off to chill and relax, it also meant that he realised how empty the house was. He had bought it with the intention with the house to be a home for him and a partner and a couple of kids. Instead it was him and a few plants. And now a cat called cher. Now that he was a cat dad, he had to figure out what to feed cher. He walked along the pet store reading labels and looking thoroughly confused as the cat meowed with discontent in her carrier. He eventually bought some food which was overpriced and headed outside and placed the carrier on the floor as he tucked his wallet away when he saw someone. “Hey, hows things?” He asked with a smile as the cat meowed a hello.

Oliver needed to get a few things for Skye, his German Shepherd, and he ended up heading to the pet store after he finished up some grading. He decided to walk since it was a nice day and opted out of taking Skye since she would want to get every toy in the store. As he approached, he saw a familiar face and smiled as he saw his fellow professor, Dane, outside. “Hey, yourself.” He smiled at him. “Good. Just getting some stuff for my dog.” He grinned and looked inside the carrier at the cat. “Awe. What’s this guys name? Or girl. Either or.”
