hey darling! I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this now, I’ve kind of taken a bit of a hiatus from tumblr/bookstagram, just because my schedule has been insaaane, but I’m hoping to get back more consistently soon!!  

that being said I think one of the best things you can do is just take so. many. pictures. I only recently started using a real camera for my photos so I’m not gonna tout needing fancy equipment or anything like that. I think just experimenting with your photos - keep trying different places where you can get light in your house, grab random props from things you just have on hand, don’t be afraid to take like 30 photos only to use 1 or 2!! You’ll learn what works best for you and what you like and that’s the best way to sort of find your style!

I got a plant!!! Which, according to the lady at the store, should be impossible to kill (or, more precisely, “if you kill one of these you don’t deserve to own plants”) I honestly give it 3 months - as badly as I want to be a successful plant mom, I have a very bad track record with keeping them alive 😅 I read carry on about a year ago now, but it’s one of those books that I love to take out of my shelf and just look at sometimes, that’s how pretty it is. Do you guys have those books? Ones that you don’t even have to reread, just hold on your hands and look at and they still give you that warm fuzzy feeling in your chest?

I think a running theme with the photos the past few days can be summed up by “distractions from finals” - but with books this pretty can you reaaaally blame me

hey y’all!! So in between studying I finally got around to finishing ACOFAS - I’m gonna try not to post too many spoilers in my review but if you’re really trying to avoid, it’d probably be best to not read under the cut! 

so I think one of the reasons that it took me so long to get through was because the plot didn’t really pick up until about a third of the way through - which is fine, it’s a novella! It’s going to take a little while to get back into the patterns of that world. I think that’s something that’s important to remember about this story in general, I’ve seen lots of complaints about there not being a solid plot or anything really happening but that’s kinda the point isn’t it? It’s supposed to be just a peek into what’s going on, to be that bridge between books. Even though it read almost like fan fiction, it was fun and cute and (for the most part) warm and fuzzy. That being said, I do still have my issues with it, and a lot of those are similar to my issues with ACOWAR. I think the characterization felt off, at multiple points, some lines felt redundant or out of place and the pacing was occasionally either too fast or too slow. I honestly think that ACOMAF will always be my favorite, it’s by far the best written out of all the books but I’m still enjoying being in prythian - so overall, I’d say around a 6.75/10. Like I said at the beginning, I know this was a divisive book, so let me know what you thought about it down below!!

I forgot to show y’all but look what came in the mail the other day!! I swear, Madeline Millers books are some of the prettiest on my shelf, and I can’t wait to see if this one destroys me as much as TSOA did 😭

So even though I said I was gonna finish this the other night, I have actually been trying to study maybe just a liiiiittle so I started it, but haven’t finished yet - it’s crazy how after a whole year of not reading a series, how easy it is to fall back into the rhythm of the story again. I feel like that’s how you know a book is good, when coming back feels like coming home ☺️

Whoa-oh what’s this? I’m posting again for the first time in too goddamn long? How rare right? BUT the end of the semester is finally finally upon me so I am giving myself a list of books I want to finish this month - because even when I’m not reading consistently, I keep. buying. more.. so the list has definitely been stacking up...I plan on knocking out ACOFAS tonight, because even despite the mixed reviews, how could I not, you know? My lack of self control also extends to my candle purchases so voila, two more from @novellyyours that as usual smell i n c r e d i b l e (and also got here in like two days??? How do you do it Britt?) if there are any books you think I’ve maybe missed over the past few months that are worth adding to the list, make sure to let me know!!!
