“Constellations rise and descend the staircase of the night at your command, O Lord. Galaxies spin like dancers. Space and time bend and bow to the gravity of your great will.
In such holy wonders, baptize our imaginations, that we might ever be a people shaped by awe at your eternal power, and a people moved to worship by revelations of your divine nature… Awaken our adoration in this place where we are so very small—and yet so greatly loved. Amen.”
-Every Moment Holy, Volume 1 ps. 80-82
THE CREATOR CAN FIX YOU
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (ESV)
Crystals can’t protect you That relationship won’t fulfill you Money won’t serve you and fix all your problems Possessions will just weigh you down
Jesus Christ, and Him alone, can save you and touch every situation or thing you’re going through. Simply acknowledge Him, wherever you’re at and He will meet you there. He does it for free; He does it because it’s His great joy to heal, save, deliver, and rescue.
From my memory, I don't think I've ever cried during The Hunger Games movie (2012), but last night I was watching it and bawled my eyes out. Such a good story, but very dystopian and heart-wrenching when thinking of a reality like that and trying to survive and love people in the midst of it.
Mediator!?
33Nor is there any mediator between us, who may lay his hand on us both. 34Let Him take His rod away from me, And do not let dread of Him terrify me. 35Then I would speak and not fear Him, But it is not so with me.
- Job 9:33-35 (NKJV)
Job knew we needed a mediator eons before Jesus came to earth. This was a revelation of need, not simply someone suffering and looking for a reason to complain about God and a way out. Thankfully, we now have this mediator. Get to know Him well; He is interceding on your behalf at the right hand of the Father.
Church Hurt: Offense, Abuse, Neglect
I was reading in the gospel of Luke a few days ago and thought to write this down. It’s on the topic of church hurt. The term is legitimate I believe, but it has been stripped and belittled to mean any little thing that could offend or upset someone who attends church or identifies as a believer. That’s not church hurt, that’s life. I wrote this:
Church Hurt: Offense, Abuse, Neglect
The verses I read are Luke 6:27-28:
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”
-Luke 6:27-28 (ESV)
Let’s get into it.
Offense: I think this word came to my mind and my spirit because there are individuals who, the moment they get offended, begin to find any and all problems they have and correlate them back to the Church and the people within the local church they find themselves a part of. Ultimately, being constantly offended allows that offense to become a bitter root which drives an individual to leave the church and try to be a Christian alone. This doesn’t work well because all Christians are part of Jesus’ Church, and the saints can’t do the work of the ministry apart from the church. TLDR: don’t live as an offended Christian that cries church hurt every time you don’t get your way.
Abuse: This is where we get into the realm of real church hurt. Predators disguised as pastors. Manipulation. Sexual abuse or scandal. I’ve seen it. It’s been too close to me to not address it with precision. Emotional, physical, and spiritual abuse are real. Spiritual leaders have a responsibility to address this and be on guard for behaviors that even have a hint of this mess. Protect children. Protect women who are often targeted by sick people who aim to manipulate. And in the aftermath of abuse, how do we respond? The antithesis of any and all what the world says. Grace. Forgiveness. PRAYER. How repentant would we see abusers and how freeing would it be for the abused if we prayed? If forgiveness was actually forgiveness and not allowance. God is just, and I would rather Him handle an abuser than me attempt to be judge, jury, and executioner (which a court of law may handle that on those side of Heaven). My job as a spiritual leader and one who professes Christianity is to hold my leaders and my peers accountable. That means that I won’t be quiet about abuse, but I also won’t shame a person beyond the sin that’s already shamed them. I refuse to carry offense over someone’s fallen behavior. What I will do is hold them accountable, the systems around them accountable and pray a lot.
Neglect: The church needs to be the hands and feet of Jesus. If people are walking around saying they’re hurt, why don’t we check in with them? And if we have, why don’t we be persistent with them until they can change their tune? Church hurt is an echo chamber; however, if individuals with right perspective spoke truth to the nonsense, it may pierce the constant droning that is the offense of individuals mouthing off about Christ’s bride.
Anyway, I just thought to decompress some of my thoughts here. The Church needs prayer, people need prayer. People need forgiveness. People need revelation. Forgiveness is near when we are near to God. He is faithful and is no stranger to abuse and harm, we’re about to begin passion week. His body was broken, he was spit on, stripped of his clothing and all dignity. He is familiar with being hurt by people. Yet Jesus prayed, “Father forgive them.” Where would we be if we modeled that example when we experienced similar things?
God has a phone number!?
My desk setup in my apartment! Here I do my remote work, writing, editing, and recording music, and the bulk of my writing for school. I also spend a lot of my leisure time here, which is why I like to get out and study in different places ie. the library, the church where I attend ministry classes, and coffee shops.
Sad to hear about the passing of Ron Kenoly, worship leader, music pastor, and artist, today. I grew up listening to his music in my house and occasionally at church. I began to revisit his music when I was 20 years old after getting counseling. It was a bit unorthodox, but in hindsight, probably fitting for me; my therapist told me anytime I felt down to not only pray and journal, but to put on Ron Kenoly and listen to his songs and worship as a pick-me-up. Something I do to this day, almost 4 years later. What an impact he had for the Kingdom of God and as a worshiper. Go listen to Ron Kenoly if you haven't! Some of my favorites are "Ancient of Days," "Anointing Fall on Me," "I Will Come and Bow Down," "Majesty," "All Honor", and recently, among my peers and I, "Use Me."
February 1st, 2026
I can't believe it's already February 2026. I have been taking a graduate research course, working toward my MDiv, and recently just finished up my first paper for it, and I made a 90%! I'm proud of that. I'm also ready to get really engaged in my coursework this month. I aim to speed up my writing while also doing a diligent job on the things that I write. I have a ton of reading to do before I start my next paper, but I plan on getting all of that done this first week of the month and focusing on the paper in the coming week(s). It is also my birth month! I'll be 24 on the 19th and have a plan to go home, see and stay with my family, and minister at a local church the weekend after my birthday! My brother and I will also be going to see a production of Rent on the 21st; I've always enjoyed and been impacted by that musical since I first saw the movie when I was a teenager, so I'm excited to see it done live!
Right now I’m winding down from the day with the start to a game I’ve been wanting to play for the longest: Sonic Frontiers! I also have my brother's and a lot of friends' birthdays this month, so I can't wait to celebrate and share some cool experiences with them.
Been snowed in these past few days, but that hasn’t stopped me from being slightly productive!
