sometimes finding aromanticism in media isn’t literally about aromanticism… sometimes it’s about the deconstruction of love as a concept and the subversion of its perception as inherently humanising. it’s about the decentering of romance as a driving force in the narrative. and also sometimes it’s about love being central to the narrative but in a way that defies all traditional categorisations of romantic / platonic / anything else. it is the secret third thing yet so much more and less at once. the point is aromanticism is everywhere for those with eyes to see
Some people don’t want to hear this but sometimes accessibility is not sustainable or eco-friendly. Disabled people sometimes need straws, or pre-made meals in plastic containers, or single-use items. Just because you can work with your foods in their least processed and packaged form doesn’t mean everyone else can.
i love this guy
OOP: How do you guys decide how your artificial windows should look?
IKEA:
we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts. WHAT HAPPENED TO US!! we used to be a proper community!!!! #LetsBringWhimsyBack
First humans ever to leave the solar system suddenly drop out of communications and the ship can't be found with any equipment. After one month of no contact their home countries start reluctantly holding funerals for the space heroes only for them all to turn up, healthy, well fed and extremely disoriented, in the middle of Tokyo, talking about alien abduction. Turns out that aliens found the poor humans straying out of their solar system, presumably lost, and took them to Alien Wildlife Rehabilitation before dumping them back in the middle of their native habitat.
#bonus points if none if the crew are Japanese#aliens just dropped where they thought was best
I literally just googled "city with the highest population"
I’ll bet they have cool new tattoos that turn out to be tracking devices too. Just in case these spirited individuals try to make another break for it.
... do the tats make them stupid popular, like that time scientists gave birds tracker anklets and it accidentally made them ultra fuckable
Let’s say yes. Those alien scientists are learning so much, and none of it is accurate.
I wish there was a painkiller except for brain fog. Like when your head is full of gunk you could just take a pill with a glass of water and lie down for 15 minutes and your head would be cleared just like that.
Every so often online you’ll hear about a woman who spilled McDonald’s coffee on her lap that sued McDonald’s. It’s touted as the prime example of a frivolous lawsuit, and McDonald’s have put in a lot of money to spin the case that way.
I'm sick of seeing that lie peddled by clickbait news sites and popular accounts trying to ridicule her with "Oh you didn't expect coffee to be hot?".
What actually happened should radicalise you.
In 1994, Stella Liebeck, who was 79 years old, spilled coffee on her lap while in the passengers seat of the car. The coffee was dangerously hot and caused third-degree burns over 16% of her body including her inner thighs and genitals.
*Warning - Very graphic images of the burns*
Image 1.
Image 2.
Stella originally tried to settle with McDonald's for the cost of her medical care - $20,000. They only offered her $800.
Throughout the case it was discovered that McDonald's were selling coffee between 30-40 degrees higher than other places. That change in temperature causes third-degree burns much faster, if it had been from somewhere else she would have had roughly 20 seconds to wipe away the coffee and avoid third-degree burns.
McDonald's were behind the smear campaign against her, so whenever you see anyone spread their misinformation, you can now correct them.
Reblogging because I’ve just seen someone doing McDonald’s PR for them *again*
In case this isn't clear, it wasn't just that location making the coffee illegally and dangerously hot. It was their company policy to do so at the time (it was a few seconds faster or something). McDonalds was, as a matter of their own policy, putting their customers at risk, illegally and without anyone's informed consent, as their default mode of operation*.
If the coffee had been spilled on an infant in a car seat instead and had killed them, I wonder if people would still think any of this was about people being "overly litigious."
*which shouldn't be a surprise from the same company that swore up and down their fries were vegetarian, only for it to come out layer they were soaking that shit in beef.
The Doctor in The Eleventh Hour going "Amy Pond, there's something you'd better understand about me, because it's important, and one day your life may depend on it. I am definitely a madman with a box" and being so, so right because when The God Complex rolls in it's all he can do to break Amy's faith in him. And the last nail in the coffin just so happens to be "I'm not a hero. I really am just a madman in a box."
I think those fancomics where Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes is transgender are cute and fun but I also think it's a deep misunderstanding of Calvin's character to think he would transition into a heterosexual normie who goes to her high school reunion. That girl would have neopronouns and fang implants
Adult Calvin is a tattoo artist named Panthera who is the bassist in a terrible metal band called Captain Napalm and Hobbes helps do faer E injections
I know it's like 2 weeks too late to change it but I'm so mad I didn't realize that the band would obviously be called "Get Rid Of Slimy GirlS". I walk the road of shame
@madnessbrainworms pointing at you

Someone was just setting the table for Christmas lunch when they took half a minute to lay out this vocabulary-changing bsky post, then carried on with their day...
[ID: A Bluesky post by rareBodyOils.bsky.social made on Dec 25, 2025 at 11:56 a.m. that reads:
Trebek: Feel free to ask these diminutive spirits for sexual favors, but don't say "guten Tag" -- they're not actually German! me: who are the slut gnomes of false berlin Trebek: Bizarre little men. You're still in control of the board. End ID]
It used to be cold. There used to be all these bugs.
Maybe he understood for the first time that to the boy he was himself an alien. A being from a planet that no longer existed. The tales of which were suspect. He could not construct for the child’s pleasure the world he’d lost without constructing the loss as well and he thought perhaps the child has known this better than he.
The grass used to be green in the summer not brown
In autumn, puddles would freeze overnight, and give the sharpest, sweetest snap when you stepped on them. All gone by late morning, but reappearing the next day with sharp crinkles and chimes.
mayflies used to coat the road so thoroughly in spring that their corpses made the road more slippery than black ice.
All I remember are the live bugs. I remember driving down the highway and openethe window, hundreds brought in by the draft. Saved from being splattered on the hood and windshield. Flying awkwardly as they mated midair.
I don't remember when the last time I saw one
Why did every gas station have the windshield cleaners? Because driving down the highway resulted in your windshield getting caked with dead bugs.
There used to be winters here. Actual winters - snow so deep you had to carve through it. Snow so deep that shovelling the driveway was a day's affair, and my brother and I could hollow out the piles to make forts. Snow that you were never sure quite how deep it was, because it would compact under your boot before you reached the bottom.
This year there was not a single snowfall deep enough to survive the afternoon.
I miss Christmas beetles. They used to be so abundant we would collect them and put them on our heads until we had living crowns of gold. I haven't seen a single one in years.
we used to go iceskating on natural ice. hell we used to have ice-free from school specifically to go ice skating. most 'winters' now there isnt any ice.
we used to have rain that lasted for days at the time. youd get soaked on your way to work or school, dry during the day and get soaked again going back home. id listen to to rain on the rooftops, in the trees and on the asfalt for hours at night as i lay in bed. i used to wake up to the smell of *wet* in the morning. i miss the rain. it rained yesterday. didnt even last 2 hours. i listened to it the whole time.
woke up today and realized that tumblr entirely killed fuck ya life bing bong so here ya go again
I’m really enamored with the dynamic of two characters who work perfectly in tandem, like pacific rim drift compatible level, but they don’t like each other. It’s not even as strong an emotion as hate it’s just a very neutral-negative dislike, but they still act in perfect concert and their individual abilities are fully complementary
Do you have a LEAST favorite bicycle? One that was unkind to you? Is this possible?
all bicycles are born with kind souls but some of them are built for a person with proportions I have yet to see in the big wide world and trying to ride said bike is a lot like a brand new baby horse trying to figure out the whole "six long legs and a proboscis" thing on day 1
I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE REST OF THE SENTENCE TO BE ABOUT HORSES INSTEAD OF BUTTERFLIES,
you know what yeah this IS how it feels
