Okay but I need everyone to understand how true this is.

I have next to no self-control. I’m the type of person who eats an entire family-sized bag of chips without realizing it, or stays awake for 2 solid days because I was watching Parks and Rec because it was ~just one more episode~, or fails a class because even though I aced every year I never did the homework. I have a terrible sleeping schedule, procrastinate like hell, and can’t spend more than 5 minutes at a time cleaning. And I loved animal products. Meat, cheese, ice cream, you name it. I thought leather was cool and rode horses. My sister used to talk about how there was no way I could ever go vegan, even after I was vegetarian, and I would agree with her.

I have never done a goddamn thing for myself in my life, but here I am, a fully-fledged vegan. Because veganism isn’t about me, or you, or your one uncle who owns a farm and treats his animals soooo well. It’s about morals. The only reason not to go vegan is apathy and selfishness, so just. Do it.

The year 2015 saw an all-time high in reported killings of trans people in the United States: 21 by the time of the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance in late November. And 2016 is on track to be just as violent. 

This year’s victims range in age from 53 to just 16. Most were black or Latina trans women, many of whom were misgendered and misnamed by local media.
