Corrupting: The adult encourages the child to engage in destructive and antisocial behavior, reinforces deviance, and impairs a child’s ability to behave in socially appropriate ways.

Verbally Assaulting: The adult humiliates the child with repeated name-calling, harsh threats, and sarcasm that continually “beat down” the child’s self-esteem.

Overpressuring: The adult imposes extreme pressure upon the child to behave and achieve in ways that are far beyond the child’s capabilities.

“I honestly don’t know.” He said and tried to figure out why he was spending so much time arguing with this woman. He just didn’t want to leave. He wanted to be in her presence.

Anastasia did just that then, she chucked the whole bucket right at his head. “Get out then!” she yelled in a fiery burst of temper that seemed to make the air itself grow hot and uncomfortable.

Anastasia felt her heart swell. Did this mean he loved her? Was this what a father’s love was like?

“Can I stay with you?” Anastasia asked hopefully.

“Stay with me?” Auguste asked he had not expected such a request from his stepdaughter, he had figured that she would much rather explore the village with her mother and sister.

“If you like, but I can’t promise it will be much fun, I’m going to visit the animals today. Maybe if we’re lucky we’ll see a new lamb amongst the sheep.”

“Well I’m sure whatever you do will be very interesting.” Anastasia said desperate for his attention.

“As you wish, mademoiselle.” Auguste smiled his stepdaughter was proving to be more interesting than he had expected.

“We’ll head out after breakfast, how does that sound?”

“That sounds most delightful good-sir.” Anastasia said trying to sound as lady-like as she could, of course she was looking so excited she was almost vibrating and she didn’t manage to touch the food in front of her.

“How very lonesome she must have been!” Ella lamented. “I know Papa’s been very sad. He hasn’t been himself since my mummy died. However did your Mummy come to terms with it?”

A timid smile tugged at her lips. “Maybe they could help each other? Maybe now neither of them will be so lonely?” 

Her smile grew a little wider. “I am. Mummy taught me to play the harpsichord and sing. She was going to teach me how to play the harp when I got older, but I suppose I can manage with just those. What can you play?”

“Mother is strong, she can do anything.” Anastasia told Ella with pride. “Well that is the idea isn’t it? Your father gets a wife, you get a mother- Mother gets a husband and we get a father.” She nodded a bit.

“I’m learning to play the flute. Mother says every lady should be musical. It makes you very eligible.”

“So I’m it for Cindy’s brat then? You know- I really wish I could just say no. Let her suffer the consequences for once... but unlike some I wont punish a kid because I hate her parent.” She sighed, even magic had to be a burden to her, all she wanted was to make Cinderella pay just a little for her suffering and now she was being guilted into helping her. This was horribly unfair. “What do I have to do?”
