Talking through. I always need a bit of time after a show to get back in the swing of drawing and writing. That in between period usually is good for weirder stuff like this one! #pascalcampion

Selection from Ivar Arosenius, trans. Muáž„ammad áșÄhir, Al-Jawlah Al-gharÄ«bah Lil-hirrah Al-Ê»ajÄ«bah (Stockholm: DÄr Al-MunĂĄ, 1996).  This childrenâs book, âCat Journeyâ in English, was written and illustrated by Swedish artist Ivar Arosenius and originally released in Swedish under the title âKattresansâ in 1909, was recently published in Arabic translation in Sweden
It is about a girl who pats a cat. The cat offers a ride on its back and they embark on strange adventures. They get to meet animals, both kind and nasty, and a police officer, aunt, an ugly old man and a king. In the end, the cat eats so much goodies that it bursts, but the kingâs tailor sews it back together and the fairy tale ends in restful calm at home in the girlâs motherâs arms. Generations of children have grown up with Ivar Arosenius picture book illustrations, of which those in Kattresan are the best known. Swedenâs answer to âAlice in Wonderlandâ. The slightly limping rhymes of the text harmonize with the angular and unreal charm of the illustrations.  Â
To hear this sounded out in Swedish verse (animated by a different artist) see here:Â Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ocyt0Ho040

kids these days with their favorite character as their lockscreens⊠when I was a youth you had to carefully arrange all your favorite anime pictures on a word document and print it out to carefully slip inside the plastic sleeve of your three ring binder
this just unlocked repressed memories in my brain
