Adam Frankenstien x Gender neutral Reader!
Falling in love with Adam was easier than breathing, it was like your heart led you to him… or rather his heart led him to you.
You had just moved into a quaint little cottage in the middle of a forest clearing. It was a remote area, and you had fallen in love with the quiet mornings you now got to call your own. It was a wonderful dewy, sunlit morning when you decided to go on a walk through the land you now called your own. All was well, the birds chirped happily as you walked by, the breeze seemed to kiss your skin in a quiet hello, and the leaves chattered amongst themselves.
You had stopped at the very top of a hill, the view was absolutely beautiful. The morning sunlight glimmered off the dewy leaves of the trees below you, deer grazed happily in a clearing somewhere in the distance, and everything felt connected for a brief moment. That was, until your foot slipped and you went tumbling down the hill, slamming into numerous rocks and fallen branches on your way down. Before you reached the bottom, your head connected sharply with a rock and your vision went dark.
You awoke to a harsh throbbing in your skull, and the sunlight almost burned your eyes. It took you a moment to realize you were being carried, but your vision was too blurred to catch a glimpse of your savior. A groan slipped past your lips before anything else could, and a gentle, but large hand tucked hair behind your ear and wiped away what you presumed to be blood off your forehead. You were too tired to react, and you fell into a quiet slumber.
When you awoke, you were met with scared eyes and a startled, almost sad sound. It took you a moment to register what exactly you were seeing. A man, with scars all over his face, and the most heartbreaking look of fear you had ever seen. He slinks back into the shadows, wincing for whatever aggression he seems to expect, and you speak.
“It’s alright..” you whispered, your throat didn’t seem able to produce much noise above that. The stranger shakes his head, his voice as deep as the canyons of the earth.
“You’ll be frightened.”
“Please… I want to see who rescued me.”
He seems to hesitate, before creeping towards the bed you lay in; his eyes avoiding your own.
“Just as I thought” you smile “A kind face”.
The man seems to be shocked, almost as if you were playing a cruel joke on him. His brows knit together in confusion.
“That’s what you see? All you see?”
“What else is there? Are you saying my eyes deceive me?”
He sighs and nervously looks at your face. He searches for any tell of dishonesty, yet finds none.
“You do not see a beast? A Monster?”
The confusion on his sweet face makes you laugh softly.
“A monster? You? You just saved a complete stranger. How you managed to find my house is a bit alarming, I will not lie to you, but you have a good heart. I can see it in the way you carry yourself, in your demeanor.”
He smiles like somebody who had only learned to smile through watching others, like he’s making an attempt to laugh.
“I.. I live in the surrounding forest. I noticed you moved in here and I was too curious to stay away.. I’m sorry if that frightens you..”
You snicker and reach out a hand to him, he was too innocent to be menacing.
“I’m lucky you didn’t stay away, you saved me today.”
He hesitates, but gently holds your hand in his.
Over the next few months, you learned a lot about this kind man. His name was Adam, he loved to read, he adored animals, and he was lovely company. On dark nights, the two of you shared bits of your stories, dark moments of your lives that the two of you had never dared to share with another until now. Adam told you of his ‘birth’ and the man who created him from discarded bodies. You were appalled at the things his so-called creator did to him, they made your chest ache.
On this particular night, the two of you sit next to one another on your porch looking up at the stars. Adams eyes flicker to you as you shiver and pull your blanket tighter around your shoulder.
“Are you cold?” he shifts closer to you and goes to take his own blanket off.
“No no, keep it!”
“Nonsense, I need not for anything but you being warm and safe.”
His gentle hands rest the blanket around your shoulders, letting his fingertips linger for just a moment before pulling his hands back.
“Is that better?”
You go to nod, before an idea pops into your head.
“I’m still a bit cold… do you think I could sit closer?”
Adam slowly scoots closer without another word, and you lean into his side. You feel him tense, then relax as he looks down at you.
“You can put an arm around me, you know. I won’t break.” You nudge him with a smile that melts him to the very core and his arm pulls you closer.
“Can I ask you something?” he asks as his hand gently plays with the ends of your blankets.
“Always”
“When I am with you… I feel this.. Warmth. I feel it here” Adam takes your hand and puts it to his heart.
“Its almost like a small fire in my chest whenever you laugh.. Or when you look at me. I’ve read about this feeling in books.. But I am not sure I have the right to feel it for somebody like you. Is this wrong?”
You felt your stomach leap, your body flooding with warmth, and your cheeks dusting with a light pink all at once. You wanted to reassure him, to pour your heart out to him, but no words would leave your lips.
He looked fearful for a moment, until you grabbed his hand that wasn’t resting on your side and kissed his scarred knuckles.
Finally, you manage to find your words.
“I love you.”
It spills out faster than you would like, but it didn’t matter to you anymore, not when he was looking at you like you were heaven on earth. You didn’t pull away when he leaned his forehead against yours, or when his lips brushed against your cheeks.
“How lucky am I?” he whispers with a gentle grin, and you lean in to finally press your lips against his. He doesn’t kiss back for a few seconds until the realization finally sets in, then his hands cup your head and he kisses back with all of the want and love he has stored away over the past months.
“Be mine. Be mine and I swear you will never have to live with a single worry. Be mine and you will be loved so fiercely-”
“Adam” you giggle and put a hand to his cheek
“I’ve been yours since the day you found me.”
