i log on to this website and see people losing their minds about the ethics of ai but never once mentioning that most of the money in tech behind ai comes from accelerationists who are actively spending their companies' earnings on the united states military. i see people talking about the supreme court ncaa ruling as "all trans athletes", as though the ruling wasn't just 77 pages of the united states supreme court specifically calling trans women subhuman men. i don't know. i can't tell if i'm just too sensitive or something but the dedication social media has to mislocating the crux of an issue truly upsets me beyond words.

i do hold my tongue quite often despite having very strong opinions because 1) the very few people who follow me are not following me for laborious hot takes and b) i think i have a tendency to come across as a lot meaner than i intend. but generalizing an extremely powerful institution's very specified hatred is not only not helpful, it's actively offensive. open, government-sanctioned acts of transmisogyny should not be obfuscated. and i have always held unpopular opinions on artificial intelligence that i largely don't bother posting because it's like talking to a fucking wall once people have made up their minds on an issue to the degree they're willing to erect parts of their online self-identity around it, but all i'll say is that if baked into your viewpoint is the supposition that the people you are talking to (or, rather, about) are somehow inherently lazier or more unintelligent than you and your peers are, perhaps it's worth re-examining the angle you're coming from.
