Honestly the most unforgivable part of all this is that they gave Lyria more family only to take them away. They made her cry which is frankly unforgivable.

I do love the Volga Lyria interactions too though it almost makes it worth it. "Lune will die, he broke Lyria's heart" I love them dearly.

You know what? I'm glad the rim didn't swallow Lysanders bullshit whole, I was afraid that that's were it was going. It's not a happy ending but it's one that promises retribution. Lysander just made enemies out of literally everyone except the core golds. God I just hope Volga and Diomedes lock the fuck in. It would be funny if at the end Lysander was struck down by that perpetual thorn in the side that is Julia au Bellona.

I think what bothers me the most about Lysander is what bothered me the most about Roque in that they are both characters that like to hide behind the order society promises only because they have never had to expirence the realities of slavery at the bottom of the hierarchy. It's the fundemental inability to empathize with those outside of Gold and their plight, their very humanity. The overconfident belief that they are exactly where they should be, on top, and that their boot on everyone else's necks is actually okay because it's covered in velvet and silk. I hate this type of person, I hate these types of characters. Of course it's to the merit of PBs writing that I feel such visceral emotions about these fictional men but goddamn. The only difference is that Roque wasn't this much of a fucking WEASEL.

On a more serious not I think there's something to be said about this parallel coming right when FINALLY we are back to basics as to WHY it is that the Republic is fighting. It's as if finally acknowledging that spark is what was fundementally missing from the previous disastrous battles. I cried a bit in the speeches made to the daughters. I don't wanna get too hopeful but it feels as if things are finally gonna start working out because of the trust in our fellows.

Now I just need Volga to LOCK IN PLEASE WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
