Oh, that was sudden! Not that she minded- part of Lizzie has always wanted a child. The idea of being a parent, of having that relationship, that closeness- was appealing to her. But the sudden revelation, hitting her all at once- well. It was certainly a lot.

"Is that something you want, dear?" She responded softly,hands outstretched.

Dustfinger had forgotten how cold his own world could be. The bite in the air made it almost difficult to enjoy the silence of freshly fallen snow that glistened in the first rays of the morning light.

The peace was interrupted by a single set of footprints, somebody who had braved the cold even earlier than Dustfinger, while everybody reasonable was still tucked warmly in bed. Or, at least, those who had beds were.

Dustfinger's toes and fingers had gone numb hours ago, so he simply ignored them as he followed the trail of prints along the narrow path which served as the town's main street.

He wasn't far behind the person who had made the tracks, and he soon caught up with her, though he immediately wished he hadn't let his curiosity get the better of him.

He hadn't been trying to mask the sound of his footfalls, so when she turned to see who was following him and he recognized her face, it was too late to turn around and act as if he'd never been there.

"Ah. It's you. I wondered who was..."

He trailed off. There was no use justifying why he'd been following her.

"Look, I wanted to apologize for last night and then...never speak of it again?"

"Is that how life works for you?"

Her voice is.. firm. Firm and indignant, but not angry- not in the way she likely should be, considering.

"Do you get to just.. do as you please, and think apologizing just erases any harm done! Whoosh- your slate wiped clean?"

"Sometimes your choices are going to affect other people. People who don't have the luxury of just wiping away the debts still tied to them."

Maybe she was being harsh. Lizzie did, at times, have a stinging nettle stuck in her craw- when people pushed her buttons, or tried to tell her what to do, how to think- that perhaps boiled down to some sort of aversion to compliance, or simply a temper. But it certainly had the least opportune choice of when to boil to the surface.

" I should've known that it would bite me in the back, " Rapture's prodigal subject more or less murmured under his breath. Tone hoarse with towed exasperation tutted between clenched teeth and adamant frustration.

His brow ticked whilst eyes verted her way once he stood from his crouching observation toward the platforms below. A hand floated across the only weapon he currently carried tucked between the waistband of his trousers and concealed under the hem of tweed formed relevantly raggedly succumbed pullover. An outline which tracked in identifying the firearm; plausibly a revolver.

"Oh, please, don't bother."

Her voice was soft- but pointedly so. The way crushed velvet glided under the palm when smoothed, force causing it to bend under the will of guiding pressure.

"I'm not going to hurt you. If I wanted to, I would have already."

Her gaze lingered on him for a moment. Taking in the form, the look in his eyes. Was this what that bastard had been after all this time? A boy? Barely a man, really- there was this raging, burning feeling in his eyes that only youth could keep alive.

Oh, but that she already knew. "You have an awful lot of bad luck, don't you Jack?"

"I prefer being difficult to find," she mused in response, arms folded at her waist.

She looked the stranger over, curious- but reserved. No use being hostile if it wasn't necessary. yet. "But apparently, not hard enough. And it's Skins these days. Lizzie Skins."

"I'm glad I know you too..."

He said as his eyes met her own. He had her in his arms, celebrating a lovely Christmas. ...Which was a romantic holiday where he came from. Would he ever receive a better moment than this? No certainly not. He took a breath before leaning in to close the distance between their lips.

When his lips met hers, it was electricity.

Months of lingering longing and need bubbling to the surface, his warmth on hers, here in the cold winter air. A fog started to form around them as the two lingered on one another, the heat of their breath hitting the icy breeze like a storm.

Her arms slinked slowly round his neck, Lizzie finding herself too red for words as she parted from his kiss- and somehow still craving that taste as soon as she did.

"Do you have any idea how long I've wanted you to do that?"

"Lizzie!" And he quickly throws his arms around her. "I was wondering when you were going to show up." He quickly turned reaching into his pouch, pulling out a book. "I know how much you love culture and literature. I picked this up when I was Luxia. A book about the culture of a nation that no longer is with us. Who better to have this than the most eager learner I know?"

"Oh, Xaos, it's perfect!" She clutched the book to her chest, taking in the scent of old paper and ink. Carefully tucking it into the inner pocket of her coat, Lizzie stood to tiptoe and pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"I have something for you too, actually. Had to travel quite a long way to find it too."

From her pocket she produces a silver pocketwatch on a long chain, a red ribbon tied around the base. "It's got a lovely little enchantment on it- it can cloak you from eyes and cameras for five minutes at a time- almost like you turn completely invisible! You just have to tap the stopwatch key!"

A small gasp left his lips when her own lips met his cheek. Of course he was soon distracted from his burning cheeks by the gift, which he took from her hands. "Hey... You have no idea how useful this will be, how many people have eyes on me." Mercenaries from Nariko, keeping eyes from Novis' men. He eyed the item for a moment.

Now it was his turn to give her a kiss on the cheek. "Merry Christmas, Lizzie."

Lizzie tucked herself into his arms, her head under his chin. It was like a piece had just.. clicked into place. As easy as breathing. That's how she always felt with him, easy. Simple. Safe.

This was a place she felt like she could be forever.

"Merry Christmas, Xaos. I'm so glad that I know you."
