Okay so possibly my favorite thing about Yu Yu Hakusho is its advocacy for softness.

This is a show whose target audience is young boys, and it is teaching them that growing up means learning to love people and tearing down the walls blocking your emotions, and that being with the people you care about is more important than guts and glory.

Kuwabara stops fighting after season three. He starts studying hard, and is accomplishing a lot academically.

Hiei has, in Mukuro, someone he can be completely vulnerable with, and in fact has had the effect of releasing her own hatred as well.

Kurama is building a quiet life centered around his friends and his human family.

And Yusuke comes back to Keiko. He chooses her over a life of fighting increasingly bigger fights. He decides that with her is where he feels most at home.
