im tired and feel like every time i go on tumblr its a hostile place where people hang around me even though they don’t actually like me lmao and i really need peace in my life considering i no longer have a support system and im going through such a big change with college.

i mean its not a drastic change anyway considering i almost never post here but. yeah. time for me to disappear once again.

These now quite famous photos are known as the Myakka Skunk Ape Photographs. The photos were taken by an anonymous woman who thought she was taking pictures of an escaped orangutan. They were mailed to the Sheriff’s Department of Sarasota County, Florida, in 2000. In the note that went with the photos, the woman claimed that the creature appeared for three nights and took apples off of her porch. She reported that “it had an awful smell and was making deep “woomp” noises.” The woman was very worried that someone could be harmed by the animal because of how big it was. You can read the complete letter that she sent to the police department here.

There were also other pioneering [East and Southeast] Asian American actors like Benson Fong, Victor Sen Yung, Lotus Long, Suzanna Kim, Barbara Jean Wong, Fely Franquelli, Chester Gan, Honorable Wu, Kam Tong, Layne Tom Jr., Maurice Liu, Teru Shimada, Willie Fung and Wing Foo; all began their film careers in the 1930s and ‘40s.

With the relatively small percentage of actors that support themselves by acting, it was only logical that they should try to limit the available talent pool as much as possible. One way of doing this was by placing restrictions on minority actors, which, in the case of Asian actors, meant that they could usually only get roles as houseboys, cooks, laundrymen, and crazed war enemies, with the rare “white hero’s loyal sidekick” roles going to the big name actors. When the script called for a larger Asian role, it was almost inevitably given to a white actor. (A Brief History of Hollywood Yellowface)
