✦ accretion disk - art print design ✦
The tiger rarely ventured to the shores. His kind were meant to prowl beneath the jungle canopy, their striped hides blending their bodies against the mottled greens and yellows of swaying grasses and shrubs. The shore, in contrast. was open, a wide and stony wasteland, and, worse, bordered by that which all tigresses warned their cubs against:
The poisoned water.
Shere Khan knew that to drink of the vast blue expanses of water would result only in madness and death. Even now, droplets of salt-flecked moisture sprayed against his whiskers, the promise of life that water held for his people, tainted by the taunt of lingering death. He shook his great head, loosing the droplets from their tantalising position about his muzzle. He counted himself fortunate that, for once, it had not been thirst that had driven him from his hunting grounds, but hunger.
It was in this dour procession, between trying to ignore the water, and attempting to fitfully and fearfully remove it from his person, that he found himself stopped before the pebbled shoreline. His ears pricked with the sound of clumsy, frantic, shuffling against the sand, and he found himself tearing forward, seeking something, ANYTHING, edible to sink his claws into.
He froze before he could even hope to grasp a seal pup between his jaws, awed as he was by the sight before him.
"G-good hunting," the beast stammered out before collecting himself, staring in wonder at the COLOSSAL creature that seems to toy with the seals as he might play with a fawn or calf. "I've never seen your kind here before." He watched the black and white hunter snap and swallow a seal pup's blubbery body in its jaws, effortlessly. "Who are you?"
A snap of this poor pups lower half, and it flopped uselessly in his mouth as his head kept smacking down to daze it endlessly. White patches that looked to be eyes turned slightly, seeing the newcomer and he completely dropped the snack. It's near-lifeless self trying to drag what it could away, hardly making it far at all. For a long moment, the waves crashed around the large form of the black and white creature, and in front of those white patches one could just barely make out the real eyes of the orca.
There was silence, both watching each other, too stunned to really notice much else around. It was a few moments later that the massive one decided to speak in a tongue that all of this world's kind knew, a voice that was like silk cutting through waves, connecting with the other's mind effortlessly. The sounds of it's kind being heard to anything that would be near enough to hear it, squeaks and various sorts of clicks, but for this one it was as though another of it's four-legged kin were speaking.
"And I have never seen yours... Koko is the name that was given to me." He was enough out of the wave's reach to where he wouldn't be pulled back in, and had plenty of moisture to last hours outside of it's watery embrace. Enough time to converse with an unknown one. "You are so... majestic... like a lionfish with stripes so dazzling, dizzying." He couldn't help but to keep staring, fully entranced by the visual garden that was this one's fuzzy fur. Even from this distance, he could tell there was so much to this one's story.

The ocean was a vast world, one that many creatures had the pleasure of enjoying it’s never-ending waters, and the ones that felt they respected it the most were the ones with black fins. Orca were especially regarded with a history of the water, and seen from most all creatures that know as something to be both feared and also revered.
Though, they themselves would never grasp that much, except to know that most things tried to avoid them, were they not of their close relatives in species; Who, even then were always mightily wary.
Separating from a pack he had acquainted himself with, even integrated with on a more intimate levels with some of the female, a young male himself right in his prime; Koko was now exploring on his own. He drifted close to somewhere near the shallows of land, warmer waters for the better meals, and was currently busying himself with the hunt of plump seals.
Out of the water he crashed, onto bumpy and sandy land, over and over until he managed to catch one of the larger pups. From here on out it was time to play with his meal, until he was ready for another go at the shores.

Creature from the deep, I’ve come to see how you’ve been
A killer whale breaks the fluid glass that separates their endless dark world from the harshly lit one above. A moment of one creature visiting the other. They want to know how you’ve been, too.

The first watercolour painting I made for practise. Proof that beginner’s luck exists. Some tutorials on YouTube encouraged me to try some proper techniques, and I am forever grateful for that because it opened my eyes to the actual possibilities and correct use of watercolour. Mainly used one photo for inspiration, though I can’t find the original photographer for the life of me.
