Reinvention/Death Cycles
Writing this at 35 years old, listening to MCR's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge for the first time in.... at least a decade? Maybe? And remembering exactly how it felt as a teenager, it's remarkable how much it still resonates. I think that's how life works; the temporary things will seem foreign when revisited but the permanent things are always familiar.
This has been the theme of my 30s so far; revisiting things that made my heart sing when I was learning who I am so I can remember who I am after years of masking to fit where I don't belong. I'm learning it's an absolutely integral part of being human. Change is always inevitable, and usually good! But sometimes we forget who we are when we think we have to outgrow things.
I lost 10 years of my life and nearly everything important to me to a poorly fit relationship, and when I escaped I lost everything resembling conventional "success" in the process. I changed everything about myself; the way I thought, the media I consumed, the goals and dreams I once had.
I find myself struggling with every part of what our capitalistic society says I should be striving for, but I'm more myself now than I ever have been.

Anatomy of a Spell
This infographic is based on my Anatomy of a Spell post and is based on my own experience with spell work.
Ofc tumblr butchered the quality but I'll try to find another way to post it so that it's more clear lol.

I dunno who needs to hear it, but if you're relying on binding spells and hexes to keep yourself safe, that's fine, but a can of mace is basically just extra strength war water and a restraining order is a binding spell that happens to be legally binding as well. Similarly, ash wood is traditional for both wands and baseball bats. Rub some sage on it and hex a motherfucker's kneecaps if that's what keeps you safe.
The world sucks. Do what you gotta.
A DEVOTIONAL TO FREYJA (full version).
Amber and gold, how will Your tears fall?
Sweetness and strength, how will Your voice call?
Mistress of Magick, Goddess of Love, I wish for You to be near.
Your blessings I treasure deep in my heart, with dreams of Sessrúmnir.
I devote myself to You, in every art piece I do, and every candle I light.
I pray that I would be more like You, each day and every night.
Hail Freyja, Hail the Vanadis, Hail the Lady, Hail the War Goddess.
Valfreyja, Syr, Gefn, and Heidr,
You make my days so much brighter!
Mistress of seidr, goddess of war,
Stronger than a thousand men,
Your blessings I treasure close to my heart, like the necklace brisingamen.
I devote myself to You, with every great thing I do,
And every word that I rhyme,
I want to honor You, I want to stay true,
To You who make the seas shine.
Hail Freyja, Hail the Vanadis, Hail the Lady, Hail the War Goddess.
(I am the original author of this devotional to Freyja, so feel free to share it but of course with credit!)

Lamentation
Thinking a lot about money today. About the meaning of money, what it means to me, how there's never enough of it (and how much of that depends on factors outside of anyone's control). Many people in the occult community are of the mind that money is just energy and "opening your mind" to that concept will allow it to flow. I think that's pretty shortsighted and ignores all the socioeconomic blocks that have been placed on us without our consent. As a child of poverty, and now a disabled adult, I can't really just wish things into existence without an avenue for them to manifest, and that avenue often just doesn't exist.
But maybe that's the sociology degree inhibiting my manifestation practice, who knows. Self blame, always self blame.
