In my fic, Vega is the werewolf daughter of Wednesday and Enid Addams. She attends Nevermore in the year 2049 . Sora is a 'normie' in Jericho who's secretly able to see ghosts (and not so secretly likes girls). They meet while investigating the disappearance of Sora's childhood friend.

How exactly did they end up in this situation? Guess you'll have to read on to find out...

Authors thoughts on Chapter 10 of WCFW

Spoilers for Chapter 10 of Wednesday's child is full of…Woah

Oh golly my poor babies, what have I done to them?

I've grown so attached to all of these characters. Each of them feels like a little piece of my life and history.

Cristie Carlisle - Her section this chapter was heavily inspired by several incidents in high school where a party went south, and I had to drive a bunch of drunk teenagers home. When you're in that situation you just enter this state of locked in and none of the crazy shit registers anymore. Also shout out to me for accidentally coming up with that demon/angel parallel for the opener and closer. Fully unintentional, but I will commend myself for it.

Vega Addams - Yeah so... let's just say I know a thing or two about fucking up in high school. Vega's guilt and self-blame are drawn from my own reactions to my mistakes then. But also I think it's fitting because Vega's in a distressed state. Her friend is hurt, Vega's scared. She isn't scared often, so when it happens, Vega fully short circuits. Also can I get some snaps for the Sleeping Beauty idea? When I thought of it I literally said "oh my god, I'm so smart."

Emmett Santiago - My beloved boy. He's actually (loosely) inspired by my best friend, who in 11 years of friendship, I've seen cry exactly twice. Emmett doesn't cry in front of Regine, but I hope I conveyed how much he needed that peer to talk to. He's coping with immense grief, and up until now he's handled it all alone. Is Emmett's southern origins partially and excuse for me to make country music references? Yes. Do I think it's also makes for an incredibly compelling viewpoint. Also yes. I mean, I really think I ate hard with the angel stuff. If you weren't kicking your feet at that, I don't know what else I could have given you. Also Also, as I believe I've mentioned for, I'm from The South in the U.S., so he's my excuse to insert country music and a very specific brand of protestant Christianity in a way that's healing for me, and for Emmett. I'm not a Christian by any means, but writing Emmett's part was incredibly special to me.

Regine Ottinger - Oh yeah babes, this is the story line I'm proudest of this chapter. The concept for my version of Regine is loosely inspired by my other best friend. We're both trans, I'm a trans man, and she's a trans woman. I consult her a lot about this story, and the more I thought about Regine's character- kind and sweet, but unassumingly socially adept- the more the pieces came together. I already knew she didn't get along with her mom, and that the divorce wasn't amicable. So it all ties together. I liked writing Regine because I enjoyed expressing the woes and worries of transitioning young. And the fact that you can have worries, and still transition! Regine feels guilty for not accepting all that is available to her. Not to mentioned also being overwhelmed from realizing just how far along in her journey she's come if she can truly think of herself as beautiful.

Vega Addams is the daughter of Enid and Wednesday Addams. She is the best friend/cousin of Regine Ottinger. The biological cousin to Ethan Sinclair. And the crime solving partner of Sora Toriyama.

Y’all I’m sorry Idk if I’ll have chapter 10 done this weekend. I mean I know this is an arbitrary deadline I set for myself, but I really am so excited for chapter 10! I want it out so bad but I just have had so little time to work on it. So I’m going to use the little time I do have to spare at lunch today to just vent about why.

1) The Car Accident

June 23rd I got in that car accident and that was a whole headache and a half. Between replacing my car, dealing with insurance, and dealing with the ticket that ate up a solid two weeks of writing. I had like no energy during that time

2) Big Event at Work

My job is having a Big Event at the end of July and not only am I working on it, I’m responsible for leading it. Have you ever tried to manage 20 organizations, 9 team members (one of whom is your boss), and full caseload all at once. I want to pull my hair out!!! Everyone has opinions about everything! But the moment you ask someone to work it’s “omg I forgot.” “Oh I was supposed to do that?” “No I didn’t do it.” But then when you do everything it’s “omg Orion you’re taking on so much? You shouldn’t have to do that.”

Well then fucking help me! Except I’m no one’s boss, and our actually boss is a lovely person but fucking sucks at being a boss.

So all that to say. I’m fucking tired and ready for this event to be over

3) Drivers School

In lieu of getting the points on my license I chose to do drivers school online. Which will save me money insurance wise but man am I paying for it time wise.

So I promise Chapter 10 of WCFW is coming but don’t be surprised if it’s not til the end of the month. But I do appreciate you sticking around! And good news, my exhausted personal life is doing wonders for my ability to write proper angst.

I have the draft done but I got held up because I got into a car accident 🥲 But I got the new car yesterday and I’m back in action today! So here’s to hoping this is a productive week. On the bright side I’m very excited for my next authors note 🤣
